sharpy-vr6 10 Posted April 19, 2012 Hello my names sam and basically i thought i would start a little thread about my first corrado and first ever v-dub. basically i have loved corrado's for a few years now and ive always wanted one and i nearly brought a valver a year ago but money issues stopped me. however a few months back now a mate of mine whos a dealer got this lovely vr6 part ex and he offered me a deal i couldnt refuse, so now im the proud owner of my first corrado. she has 180k on the clock which seems alot however it had full vw service history up to 130k and privatly serviced since and she drives like a dream. heres how she looked when she first arrived on my drive: In the couple of months i have owned her i have started getting her tidied and done a few subtle modifications, and fixes. mechanically all that has gone wrong so far is a dead battery, a leaking water pump and i replaced the exhuast system that was a little corraded for a nice stainles 3 box jetex system. so far all i have done in the way of visual tweaks is install an fk badgless grill and a 90mm splitter rather then the pants 50mm. heres how she stands now. A couple of weeks back when the weather was good i decided i would give the car a proper clean included my rather tatty engine bay, i was fairly annoyed at how dirty my inlet manny looked so i started to clean it and found that with alot of elbow grease and effort i could get a good polish up, using simply a wire brush and an abbrassive strip. im sure this has been done before however for anyone interested this was the result. i was really please with the results and i reccomend it as a simple clean up for anyone :). i have a few more plans for the car in the future which i shall keep you informed about however atm the cars of the road on my driveway untill i can get it fixed after someone lovingly did this to my fuel tank :( so now i need to get a petrol tank :(
Portent 0 Posted April 19, 2012 Welcome. Looks good and mileage isn't anything to worry about if it has been looked after. Bit of a git about the petrol tank but you'll soon forget it when you've got it running again. Lots of people on here are breaking cars so a new tank should be fairly easy to get. storm_warning 0 Posted April 20, 2012 Is that midnight blue? Hard to tell in the pictures - either way, lovely colour! I had the 90mm spoiler on the front of my first 16V and found myself scraping and bending it parking against kerbs all the time, much preferred the 50mm spoiler on the front of my Storm I bought after, and much preferred the look of it, too. I wish I hadn't seen you polishing up the manifold as now I will have to do mine :D
sharpy-vr6 10 Posted April 20, 2012 Yeh mate its midnight blue, im getting some paintwork done soon as a i have a few dodgey spots with little rust bubbles and stone chips that im not happy about. i know from a practical point of view the 90mm is hopeless, however ive had low cars before and im used to be extra cautious on speed humps and curbs and i just preffer the look i think it improves the front end i really like the old duckbill spoilers you got on the golfs aswell :). haha i know i was dead please with the results however it takes alot of grafting i would have used sand paper however i had none to hand, i would reccomend not using something as abbrassive as the wire brush i used though as it has left me with a lot of work to get it down to a smooth polished finished :). and thanks portent, dont worry i know its really good being on the forums as i have already found a member nearby who i shall be going and getting a fuel tank from tommorow along with a few other goodies ive had my eyes on. sharpy-vr6 10 Posted June 18, 2012 Okay its been ages since i have posted here so i thought i would add some quick updates. Firstly a big thanks to Hombre_paulo who i purchased my new fuel tank from :). the sigh of relief i had when i found i could source a fuel tank nearby. Secondly the reason it has been a while since i last posted is due to the fact i have been saving up (and blancing funds between a new mountain bike after some theiving gits stole mine :bad-words: ). anyway all the saving has done alright and i recently purchased a set of coilovers :D i know everyone highly reccomends the kw's but in the end i decided to go for the weitecs as they have had similar reviews and i thought i would save myself a few bob. at the moment the car is sitting stupidly low and i need to raise it a little during this week when i have the time :/, but for the moment i dont really have a bad word to say about the weitecs. im really impressed the ride quality is pretty much the same as the standard (obvcourse as excpected a little harsher and tiny bit more bouncy) but handling is improved no end although i feel i would like some anti roll bars soon :awesome: . anyway enough of me babling on heres how my baby looks at the moment (excuse the car being dirty ) The lovely parcel i ahd been waiting for :) During the process after only installing the fronts :| very low indeed  oops  Luckily with the rears attached its all looking a bit better but i think i need to raise 10mm maybe more. I apologies on the photography but all comments and opinions are welcome :D
