Coil pack testing help needed

Recommended Posts

Still trying to eradicate my intermittent starting problem, and chatting to a mates dad who's an RAC engineer I did a test of the ignition to find the car isn't producing a spark.

With that in mind, the options seem to be either a crank position sensor, coil pack, ignition or immobiliser fault.

I've removed, cleaned and reseated the crank sensor but before I start spending on parts how do I check the coil pack and ignition switch without killing myself???

My thinking was to unplug the pack and get a voltmeter over the terminals which would help tell of the pack is failing, but how can I test the pack is receiving power with the ignition on?

Any advice on what to check, order to check in etc would be great.
