Pre tensioning rear beam

Recommended Posts

Does any one have a scan of the Bentley manual on how to fit and particularly how to pre tension the rear beam on a vr6 as I will be doing it this week.

I have it all stripped and will have bushes in tomorrow,

I expect I will change the brackets also as a precausion, it took a knock to the rear wheel, bent the beam or at least the stub and this is the reason for replacement.

I would very much like to know how the manual suggests doing this.

Thanks

Nick

I'm not totally familiar with the VR6 ones, but the 4cyl ones seem to go in 'all the way', don't over-do it though better to not push them quite far enough, offer the beam up and then press them further if necessary.

Manual is a bit sketchcy but I think the basic idea is to make sure there is no slack side-to-side to allow movement of the beam when bolted up.
