Car alarm health check

Recommended Posts

I am getting the VR insured on a new policy, and they need a Cat2 immobiliser for the theft cover. My car has a cat 1 laserline alarm, but it was fitted a long time ago, and I never got the installation certificate anyway.

They said this isn't a massive problem, and all I need to do is to take it to get an alarm 'health check', and suggested it usually costs about £25. Any idea what this is and where to get it done (anywhere in/near Sheffield)?

The laserline is a bit past it anyway, so I probably need a new alarm - though if I can fit a new one myself and get a health check done, then I'd probably rather do that.
