jonny_ash 0 Posted November 2, 2012 Hi all I've had a good flick through the threads relating to this but can't find an answer. Basically for some time my heater has only been working on position 4... this has been answered many times I hear you shout.... I have put up with this, didn't bother me too much to be honest but more recently it has become even more tempramental. Occasionally the heater would stop all together and this has now become more frequent to the point that it pretty much doesn't work at all. if i start the car and leave it stationary with the heater on position 4 it works fine but as soon as I start moving it cuts out after a short time. If I turn the heater off for a minute then back on it starts back up but then cuts off again pretty quickly. When it has cut off there is a very faint ticking noise coming from somewhere, this stops when I turn the heater off. Also it doesn't apear that the temp sensor readout is correct. When moving its not much higher than 70deg, when stationary it rises up to about 90deg but drops again when I'm moving. I've thought for a while that my heaters weren't getting very hot but have only just noticed this happening. I replaced the heater matrix about 2 years ago as I was getting steam through my vents and recently on the odd occasion I have had a steam expulsion from them again but nowhere near as bad. There was no evidence that the matrix was leaking eg wetness round the foot vents but my car was losing a fair amount of water from the expansion tank. Again it still needs topping up fairly regularly but not as bad as it did. Any Ideas as I reckon I should sort it before it gets too cold. Thanks John
r8umar 10 Posted November 2, 2012 ok so you say it only works on number 4, i cured this problem yesterday. basicly if you have a late corrado like myself what you need to do is.... take the heater control out (requires taking the centre console out if you dont want to break anything) disconnecting the loom unclip the copper contact which the look goes into (use a screwdriver to lift it out) now remove the heater blower nob, jus pull hard and it pops off. now you should see the copper contact which connects to the main control which you have taken out. to solve the problem you need some long nose pliers to twist the copper so it looks like this ~ if it this shape great, but make sure that it looks like the picture below Hope this helps mate. once you open it up the picture will make sense :)
