abs problems vr6 storm

Recommended Posts

I have since new , owned a 1995 VR6 Storm Corrado with ABS and Traction control and I would like to ask if anyone can offer some advice with regard to a brake problem. The ABS light has come on and the system is applying the brake on and off on the nearside/port rear wheel whilst driving , wagging the tail of the car !. I had to "nurse it home"

It has come on once or twice recently but only intermitantly with no real affect to the car and the ABS light was only dimly lit. Could it possibly be one of the wheel sensers and which one ? The mile, age is 45,000

The only previous problems with the brake system relate to the calipers sometimes sticking and corrosion of the disc,s , I dont use it that much and regrettably its kept outside, whilst the body is great the disc,s do rust.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Welcome to the forum!

It could be a sticky calliper / loose wheel bearing causing this but you really need to get the fault codes read first.

Has the fluid been changed recently? Rear brakes could maybe benefit from a strip down / re-grease too

Whereabouts are you based? We may be able to recommend a good garage / VW specialist

Welcome.

One owner storm with 45k, that's the best stats I have heard on here.

Look forward to some pics.

Regarding your abs issue I had the light come on a few months back although no locking up, had the sensor replaced and been fine since.
