rado mc 0 Posted May 13, 2013 I'm hoping to separate the alloy shroud from the end of the steering column. As I've got someone after the alloy surround, their's got bust by a thankfully failed attempt at robbing the car. is this something to avoid and sell it on complete or simples? rado mc 0 Posted May 14, 2013 ok, got it all un-bolted (the section with the barrel on) but its not sliding off as i hoped, seems to be catching on the steering lock i guess. is there a way round this or do i have to take more off? Andy
Stonejag 10 Posted May 14, 2013 Have you also removed the shear bolt that holds the steering lock assembly to the outer steering column tube? It holds the two halves of the lock housing together, passing through a tab on the outer column tube which will prevent it sliding off. You'll need to grind the head off. Don't remember if the lock housing can be removed without releasing the steering lock, but from memory it should be possible. Just sold my spare column so I can't investigate!
