rado_valver 10 Posted October 19, 2013 i have a 530mm radiator on my 9a 16v engine and about to convert to an obd2 2.8 vr6. would this rad and fan assembly be upto the job on the vr6. the bay is going to be wiretucked and water bottles etc relocated so shouldnt be a full bay. if it gets too hot im thinking of moving number plate and cutting and meshing the recess to aid air flow and do a small bonnet raise. or can people recommend a radiator that will fit with an expansion and top fill built in.. VW_chris 10 Posted October 19, 2013 (edited) i highly doubt it, belive me, VR6`s get hot. my aux fans bearings colapsed not too long ago so i removed the fan belt to stop it doing anymore damage, and i hated running with one fan, even though it was only for about 2 days. what you want to do if get hold of a vr6 front cross member/slam panel i believe, with a vr6 cooling system, if vw believed they could run a vr6 on a smaller cooling system, they wouldnt have spent x ammount fitting what they did.
