CazzaVR 0 Posted April 18, 2003 Anyone done this? Seems like it's worth doing and it's quite inexpensive, but what are the legalities of it all?
Joe M 0 Posted April 18, 2003 If your car is a K reg or newer then you need the cat to pass the mot, if older then go for it. When I bought my 16v the cat had been hollowed out and it flew, when I got one to pass the mot it made a noticeable drop in performance. If you dont mind the hassle then get a decat and just swap them over every mot time.
CazzaVR 0 Posted April 18, 2003 Cheers Joe, mine's a J-reg :D Do you have to adjust the fueling at all?
Joe M 0 Posted April 18, 2003 I dont think so, the 2.0 16v has an ecu and lambda sensor that should take care of it.
Blimey 0 Posted May 1, 2003 I've got an L reg 2.0 16v and was gonna de-cat it, but got put off as it may invalidate your insurance if you have a major prang and the insurers inspect your motor....
