matt59876 0 Posted October 22, 2014 Have you tried pulling it all the way out and seeing if it will retract?
VR6 Lee 0 Posted October 22, 2014 Yeah done that, no luck! :(
Jim Bowen 1 Posted October 22, 2014 Can try oiling it up. Best option is to buy a 2nd hand one. Easy to replace.
Hairyarse 10 Posted October 22, 2014 It could just need a clean. Seat belts hold a surprising amount of much and dirt and it can have this effect. Get some upholstery shampoo, something like the Auto Glym spray foam is good. Pull the seat belt all of the way out and clip it so it doesn't retract at all. Then spray it with the foam and give it a good soak/scrub/clean in a bowl of water. Dry as much as you can with a towel and then leave it fully unwound until dry. Hopefully this will fix it assuming it's not the mechanism itself. I've done this on a few cars and it's solved the problem for me.
Jim Bowen 1 Posted October 22, 2014 Am sure I remember people saying furniture polish on the belt was a trick to make them smoother.
VR6 Lee 0 Posted October 25, 2014 Fixed. Pulled the whole seat belt out and cleaned with fairy liquid and water and scrubbed them.. Left overnight and now they work perfect.. Yipee
