Bottom end rumble and leakage... The car not me... Again! 9A

Recommended Posts

So here we go again!

This car will be brand new in a couple of weeks with the rate I'm going! Had a mad weekend replacing gaskets, cleaning, servicing, and kr cam swap. Did the whole lot! New oil and filters. Timed it up correctly and got it running sweet as a nut. Noticed today some oil on the floor after only been parked for an hour or so. Decided to investigate. Jacked it up and oil looks like it ****ed all over the underneath. I can't really see where it's coming from but there is a lot of oil around the crank pulley which In turn looks to have gone on cambelt. Not too bad but it look to be that area. Other side of block seems dry. The problem side has oil all over the wishbone where it's ****ed out while driving. So I fired her up to see if anything obvious was leaking and that's when I noticed the rumbling. No sign of oil leaking anywhere. Crankshaft seal maybe? And could the rumbling be the main bearings and would the oil change have done anything drastic? Ever since I've done the "tune up" it seems as though it's "****ed up". I wonder if they had a thicker oil in before or I've just got really bad luck by trying to care for my car. If this carries on I'm going back yo my mk2 golf!

Could have been leaking throughout that journey. Would suspect main bearings. Had a similar issue on another car and managed to "roll out" the old bearings.
