Corrado G60 Temperature Gauge / Thermostat Issue

Hi,

 

I've got a 1991 Corrado G60 and i think the thermostat is on the way out.

 

The car only comes up to temperature when sitting in trafic, but never goes over where it should be.

 

So, she seems to be running cold which is why i think its the thermostat, rather than the temp gauge.

 

Is there any way to test the thermostat and is it difficult to change out?

bit of a pain to get at as it's under the alternator/charger, PAS pump etc in the elbow to the bottom of the waterpump, feel the hoses as the car runs from cold up to temp, once at about 75 degrees the stat should open and hot water will flow into the rad, does sound most like a stuck open stat though.

can you get to it if the car is on a ramp or would the front have to come out ie bumper / radiator etc?

Looks easy enough to get to from underneath, its going to be a case of having a look and going from there.

 

Sometimes you can get all worked up preparing yourself by reading stuff on forums. To only find there was not much to it in the end.
