Dosnt like dropping into third..........

On my G60, when dropping from fourth into third, there comes a funny clunking sound, not crunching of gears, but just a resistance to go in. This dosnt happen at lower revs, but i obviously dont abuse the box by doing this at silly revs either, - just say for example, a normal overtake shift-down....My old G60 never did this, - any ideas????????? Cheers guys.

try and blip the gas as you change down may help

Sounds like syncro wear or gear shift allignment, may help changing the Gbox oil...

any of you folks know the exact capacity for the gear oil? just a case of fill up till it flows out of the level plug?

2 litres but you won't get anymore than 1.5 in/out with the box still on the car...

yup, fill 'er up till she drops some back on your head... :? :lol: Make sure that the car is on level ground before doing it though! ;)

 

As Supercharged says, book lists 2 litres, but you'll not get more than 1.5l back in after draining it 'cos there'll still be oil in there that's not fully drained out... 8)
