menace2society 0 Posted April 27, 2003 hi guys im still having problems with the idling.. noticed that its fine until enigine temp reaches 110 degrees the engine fan comes on and then all of a sudden the rev counter goes up from 850rpm to 1500rpm, then if i gas it a bit, it'll stick at about 3000rpm (worrying) um ive replaced all the following broken dipstick cover, oil cap, knackered o ring around idle speed adjustment screw, cleaned the isv out with engine degreaser spray, wd40'd throttle cable, ive topped up on coolant levels as well yet it still doesn't seem to make any difference, i know the isv is working because it makes a buzzing sound when the engine is switched on. any thoughts??? Thanks

chuck 0 Posted April 27, 2003 next time the revs stick high, flip the bonnet and check to see if the throttle has returned to idle - if it hasn't its your throttle cable, if it has, I'd guess that theres maybe some problem with your ISV. Its apparently (learned this in another thread here) controlled by a temp sensor on the side of the engine. Might have a problem with that. I'm sure someone else here could explain that one better. Just a thought.
