HT leads for valvers

Recommended Posts

Been looking at new HT leads as I fancy a bit of colour rather than black.

Noticed that the 1.8 and 2.0 leads are listed separately, the 2.0 costing more.

I've never owned a 1.8 but presumed it'd be the same layout as the 2.0 and that they'd use the same leads.

So what's the difference?

there's a sensor on the coil lead for the 2L ecu

I'm sure mine doesn't have one - is it necessary? Where does it plug in?

You should have it, though I've never fully understood the impact / usage as the car will run seemingly fine without it connected. Apparently it helps detect knock / pinking.

It should be on the ignition lead for cylinder 4 and connects to a plug, which runs off into the ECU I think.

It's not exactly like this one, but similar...

Well the car hasn't missed it for the last 2 years and runs spot on.

I'll have to have a look for a spare plug.
