16V, should it be redlined occasionally?

Recommended Posts

Car is usually driven sedately in city traffic by herself, does the engine like high revs and benefit from being redlined every so often?

Yup.

You'll also find the car loves a good motorway run.

Many cars get bogged down and slow when driven sedately for a long time. After a good thrash along a motorway, the car livens up, blasts away the cobwebs, and feels a lot more spritely.

I just thrash mine all the time to make sure it doesn't drop from its peak ;)

Good to hear, she's been away for a few days, and I've just been moving it in and out of the drive.

Sounds unusually rough at idle, so I thought it could do with an early morning blast to clear the lungs before she comes back.

I can vouch for that, my 16v run like a beauty after a good blast down the motorway or quiet "A" roads.. observing the speed limit of course
