Picked up my car recently from a (reputable) garage following some work to get it through the MOT and, surprise surprise, I have a new problem. Drove the car this morning, quite a long journey, about an hour and a half and once I'd come off the A3 and was sitting in bumper-to-bumper traffic I hear what sounded like a hedge trimmer/chainsaw/I don't know. Turns out its my fan going in to overdrive. And just now I popped out to the shop, in the car just 15 minutes this time, car running whilst waiting outside shop and the same thing happens, really loud fan and a slightly dodgy smell to be honest. Water temp reads high at 110 and oil temp reads high at 120! Does this point to any obvious problems? Thermostat/temperature switch or something similar? Thanks in advance.
