Window Regulator Replacement HELP

Recommended Posts

I am new to this forum, but would love some help from anyone who has replaced the electric window regulator using the InPro replacement from A1 electric. (VW Corrado Regulator & Motor Assy-Right 49-54060 from A1 Electric).

There are many threads on Vortex and some of this forum discussing the installation, but the pictures are difficult to see how the new unit is installed.

Specifically:

1. What size bolts are used to secure the motor assembly (unit above does not come with bolts)

2. There is a second piece resembling a "track" that comes with the assembly. See the lower right side of the attached picture. I am wondering where/how and in what orientation this piece is installed. It appears to connect to the arm with a black connector and will slide as the window moves up and down, but it is unclear where to secure this piece.

3. I am assuming i need to re-use or buy replacement plastic rollers (the rollers that are on the original assembly and roll in the horizontal track mounted to the bottom of the window). I know this seems like a dumb question, but wanted to confirm.

Otherwise, I think I almost have this thing figured out. If someone can help or even point me in the right direction, I would be very greatful and would be glad to post some detailed pictures for others.

I've pondered getting these but haven't bit the bullet yet. Have you read this?! http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?4195202#/topics/4195202?page=1&_k=hq5ea8

Thanks for the link. Yes, I remember seeing this at one point, but then could not find it again later. Anyway, after continuing my research I have found a few pieces of info.

1. I think the bolts are M6x1.0 based on another thread....but I will take to Lowe's and use the thread gage to double check.

2. I have yet to figure out where the second piece (or sliding track) gets mounted. I need to dry fit it to the door to see if I can figure it out.

3. It seems clear that the two ends of the scissors mechanism with the "balls" or hitch-like pieces are mean to accept the nylon rollers. I am going to assume mine are shot and order some new ones from Phenix Engineering. They are a bit pricey at $35/4, but I'm not re-using old ones just to have them fail.
