FCM wiring issue

Trying to work out why I've got wafty fans on my 93 VR6. A previous owner took it upon him or herself to 'improve' the waiving for the above module. Now I had a spare 30 mins yesterday and got my multimeter out and it seems my brown ground wire for the 8 pin plug for the FCM had continuity to earth and positive terminals on the battery. Am I correct in thinking that this isn't right?? Cheers Jon
