virtuoso23 10 Posted July 20, 2018 (edited) Hey guys, so after pulling my 2.9 due to timing failure and seeing Jim's shiny new purchase I am thinking of getting myself one of these new old stock 2.8 12v engines. Questions though: My 93 Rado is on distributor ignition. Can I use this with the 2.8 AAA block? What else would I need to modify to fit this in with my current factory setup that differs from the 2.9?? Feel this would be a much better way to go then spending twice the cost on a rebuild. Philly-R6 0 Posted July 24, 2018 All your ancilliaries should just mount on the new block/engine. I understand @PeteMCR transplanted an AAA block and head (from a 1997 Golf) into his distributer spec Corrado. You will need the top chain casting (to mount the distributor) and the drive "fork" from the end of the cam shaft. Transplant all your sensors and engine loom onto your new block and it should just run. Take loads of photos as you go. Get a box of freezer bags/butty bags and label everything.
