Ady_G 0 Posted September 7, 2004 After 2 years of nothing but a stone chip on my car, a mate of one of the neighbours has scraped my front bumper and wing. He did own up and offer to pay for the damage which made me think there are a few honest people about after all. I got a couple of quotes today though, one was £290, and one was £408, both of which I thought were a bit steep. What do people think, is this the going rate for body work these days? belfastfumanchu 0 Posted September 7, 2004 If i was you i'd take it to the best place possible regardless of price. I had some work done and wasn't happy with it & it ended up costing me a lot more to get it done right. Go for the most professional people available is my advice. Henny 0 Posted September 7, 2004 it's a pearl colour... it's gonna need just about all of the front wing and front bumper painting else it'll stand out a mile off... £280's not a bad quote IMHO, possibly a little high, but £408's well steep...
DanA 0 Posted September 7, 2004 If you've a few stone chips up front also... may be a good time to get the whole front end done whilst your at it!
dubbprince 0 Posted September 7, 2004 both are way to steep!! I went to a very reputable ex-royles royce sprayer....he said he'd spray my whole bonnet and wings for £400. Then went to another who specialises in flip type paint...he said he'd spray whole front end, inc. a vr6 later style bumper for £300 inc. paint etc. If i was you...either take the first qoute or ask about a bit more, there must be a private sprayer in the area i shoudl think. Ady_G 0 Posted September 7, 2004 Think I'm going with the £290 quote, I just spoke to the mate of the bloke who scraped my car, and he has taken his motor to the same place for work and agrees that it's worth doing properly. Both the body shops I went to were recomended by Lion Garage in Leicester VW Audi indepentant specialists so if they use them they should be ok, if a little pricey. I have got a few stone chips on the bonnet as well that need doing, so I might get the whole lot done at once. Cheers Ady
