Rad Panel removal

Recommended Posts

I'm having a few odds and sods powder coated including the rad panel and need to take it out.

I was going to put a jack under the engine with a bit of wood beneath the sump. Is there a more elegant way of doing this. I am worried that when it comes to re assembley it may not all line up, dont know why I think this :? .

Has anyone done this before?

yup, mine's been sat like that for about 6 weeks now as I've stripped out the enginebay to allow better access to the block so I can fit the new pistons when they arrive... 8)

I've just taken it out and its got a rad panel from a golf me thinks. Part number stamped on it is 191 199 171 E, which is MK2 golf Jetta.

Is this an issue? I was thinking might as well buy new, if its cheap enough.

I'm almost certain that the golf and the corrado rad support panels are identical which is why the Golf G60 intercooler is such a doddle to fit into a Corrado 'cos the mounts are already there! 8)

New ones are extortionately expensive... :|

For some reason the Corrado gets a 535 prefix and the Golf 191, thats what is confusing. Could be the 535 is a moded 191 and thats why 191 in the panel?

If 191 works then its golf and hopefully miles cheaper. ECP lists something called a FRONT LOWER PANEL GO2/JE2 GO2/JE2-Lower front panel for 28squid + the dreaded. Thats probably near what its going to cost to have it blasted an painted.
