What does the system sound like? I've been told it's subtle
-
have just been quoted £300 for a full miltek system (from downpipe back) any1 know if I can get it cheaper?
-
The baffles have gone in my back box, got a range of prices between £95 and £160 for a new one! Can anyone recomend an alternative back box as I'd rather go sainless than spend that on a standard one, but I would like to have pretty much the same tailpipe as the standard one. Any suggestions?

I've been browsing German eBay and have seen a fair few Eaton superchargers for sale with claims that they'll fit the G60. Whats the deal? Do they fit and if so how do they compare to the g-ladder as they are a fair bit cheaper.
-
My thinking exactly, did you see the corrado warning triangles and firstaid kits - fools
-
thanks Henny, I'll go and see what I can get for it.

I'm about to put an ignition switch off my '91 g6o on eBay and was wondering if any1 can tell me what other VW's it will fit. ta Chris

Any1 know where you can buy diecast corrado models? See a few on eBay every so often but cant find where to buy them (if they still make them). ta Chris

Dont know my key number and I've only got 1 key, can I get the ignition setup and a key from VAG and get locks to match the new ignition key at a later date (when cashflow allows) and is that still going to be under £50? tried pulling key out 2mm, made no difference :(

It has compleatley split in half and the MOT is due. I've got a new boot but not the time or inclination to fit it, I just want to know how much labour charges should be.
-
Can any1 tell me how much I should expect to pay to have a cv boot fitted by a garage, I havnt got a clue and dont want to get ripped off

I thought my ignition switch had gone, but having removed it I found it works fine so it must be the barrel (can turn ignition on but cant quite get position 2). My question is do I need to get one specific to my key or is it not that bit that I need and how much is this going to cost me?

Thanks all, found the details and the car is now home. Terrifyingly easy to do isn't it, I think I'm going to go and invest in a good alarm.
-
thanks, I'll go and try a search

My '91 G60 wont start due to a faulty ignition switch - no spark from coil. I cant get a new 1 untill monday but I need to move the car now. If I unplug the wires from the ignition barrel can someone please tell me how to hotwire it so I can get it home as I have no other option. Thanks Chris

You could well be right, I'd like to drive a well maintained G60 to see the difference and see what I'm missing, but for now this is all I can afford although it really was false economy to buy a cheap G60, the money I've had to throw at it could and should have been spent on getting a better example to start with. Oh well, we live and learn

Dont get me wrong, I love my car, it just seems to be so unreliable to all other VW's that I've owned
-
To be fair that wasnt really VW's fault. I bought the car with TSW's on it not realising they were held on with bolts for steel wheels so the taper was all wrong, bolts only gripped in a tiny spot, eventually sheared through. Luckly wheel started making almighty vibrations first so I slowed right down just trying to limp to nearest garage, still scary, must be terrifying at speed.

Having owned 4 VW's in the past I have found them to be well built reliable cars and refused to be tempted away from the marque. Then I got my dream VW, my beloved G60. I've now owned it for about 4 and a half months in which time I have spent more on it than all my previous cars put together. Amongst other things the list of problems so far includes: *Front wheel fell off (bit scary that one) *Bumper nuts sheared off - had to destroy the slam panel to remove the bumper *Big end bearings started to go *Melted a hole in a piston, spraying oil everywhere and engine caught fire *Cat cracked (nice straight pipe instead now) There are at least a dozen other small problems that I've had to fix, the latest being a dodgy ignition switch, it seems to be off the road more than on it, and I swear that I dont think theres been 1 day that I've driven the car that I havnt had to lift up the bonnet at least once. I realise theres a price to pay for owning such a cool car but there seems to be a huge difference between the reliability of corrado's (G60's at least) and all other VW's, does anyone know the reason for this or have I just got a dog of a car?

So if all fuses are ok and ignition controlled live is dead does that mean its the ignition switch?
-
where exactly is the switch and is there any way of testing it? Cant see a thick black wire :?
-
I've just put a stereo in my c, problem is its an old one and I had no wiring diagrams so after a few sparks and a couple of fuses later the stereo is working fine, but the car wont start. It turns over fine but theres no spark coming from the coil, any ideas what I could have blown? Dont know if its relevent but when I was wiring up the stereo I couldnt find a live wire conected to the ignition, only a constant live which was a red and white wire, but I know there was an ignition controlled live as I used it with my last stereo (had to sell that 1 to help fund a new engine). Please help, I havnt a clue about car electrics Chris

thanks all, I think I'll take it for a tune up and see how it runs after that

I've just replaced the cat on my g60 with a straight pipe (cut the cat behind the lambda probe) and now whenever I change gear when booting it I get a huge backfire. Do I just need to adjust the fueling or is there more to it?
