I bet! My sunroof is fine but if I slide it, it doesn't like closing. I have to keep pressing the button and it clicks like the window, but only moves 1mm per click, so it takes like 15 mins to close the blighter! I'll just live with the tilt, thats fine for me... The window I kinda need fixed though. I dont know if its on the same loom as the horn but that seems the same - tempermental, like she's just taking the **** with me. One min it works fine the next, nothing. The thing is I am scared to open it now in case I get to my destination and it wont close... Like yours did Rorgasm Has anyone encountered this and found the cause.
-
Does anyone have any idea to the cause of this? Basically I have noticed my drivers door window is being temperamental. It works, but only when it seems to want to. This makes me think its just a loose connection. However, whenever I press the button I hear a slight click, like something mechanically is trying but as if something is stopping it going down. I know it works as I was having trouble yesterday with it, it was clicking when I pressed the button but the pane of glass didn't move. Other times it works fine. I accidentally pressed ti this morning and it started going down, I thought oh sweet, but its cold so I put it back up. 10 mins later I went to lower it slightly and it had gone back to a non worker. Any Ideas? The passenger one is fine always so I don't think its a fuse.

I only changed that one sensor and didn't touch the other two or the housing, I vaguely recall the one at the back has a slightly different connection anyway. It should have been hot enough, about a 7 mile drive, in traffic so it took about 45-hour. The water temp was 90 odd, at about half way point. @daves16v, that 16 degrees sounds familiar from when i was switching between the 2 computers, could be co-incidence I will watch that and let you know. Mine deffinatley worked before swapping sensors, and thats all I have done and topped the oil up. Could I have to reset it somehow, maybe disconnect the battery? I am probably being a hypochondriac about it, but she's my baby so I worry.
-
Thanks for all the info. To test the pressure, whats the proceedure, do I put the pressure gauge where the sender sits and run upto temp? In theory, say the engine is warm, if I rev it past 2150 and the alarm doesn't come on am I good? Does anyone know why I may not have had a oil temp on the onboard computer after limping home?
-
The sensor that I took out has the same figures on it (sorry 1.2 - 1.6bar, not 1.4). I swapped it over and crawled home giving emphasis to not exceeding 1.8 revs. Got home ok, no light or light/alarm combination. I did notice that the oil temp doesn't work now. it just has " - - - " instead of a the temp, Hmmm Does this indicate that something else is wrong now? I will try and get the pressure varified over the weekend and let you know the results. touch wood she's ok.
-
So if the alarm tripped, does this mean there is a blockage somewhere? As the pressure was too high for the system? This would make sense as after I stopped for about 15 mins, when I re-started it it didn't re-trip and I carfully limped to work ok.
-
What sort of pressure reading should I get? Between 1.4 - 1.6 bar (written on the sensor) right?
-
I just got the new sensor, turns out they had it all along at T.P.S. so they delivered it today, so I have that now (part number :068-919-081-D)I'm going to stick it in now. When I have got this part on, is it safe to start her up? If so should I precautions about anything? @Dox you mention the oil needs to be hot to test the oil pressure. Can I run it upto temp, without worrying about further damage if the pump or oil pick up is buggered and the bust sensor wasn't actually my problem? Obviously if either of the switches trigger the light / alarm I'll turn her off, and I wont move her just run the engine. I am really worried I may have damaged the bearings now, after topping it up and limping to work. Or if I even start her up now to test pressure with warm oil.
-
7 miles - ish, but if I leave it at my work carpark, (like I did when I first got it back and was doing work on it while it was sorned) I run the risk of the little scumbags from the area smashed my passenger window, again, I really dont want the hassle of this again! I know the sensor is dud, but I don't know when I can get the replacement as its on order with no delivery date... Just out of curiosity, did you replace all 3 of them? @DOX, If there is a leak, such as from the bearings, could I visibly confirm this or would it be internal - not visable? Since I have noticed the sensor is dud I have been keeping an eye out for oil patches on the road after its been standing there, these have been there but no larger than tennis ball size diameter (maximum), looks like its only while its running... Oil pickup, could be, I don't know what it is or how to tell? Oil pump, could be, I don't know how to tell? after leaving for about 15 mins it did have some oil in there. I think the oil itself will be ok, I was using 10/40 and I have done close to 1000 miles since its had that in there with no problems thus far, so I think the oil type is good. Sensor is deffo ****ed and leaks, pretty sure its the front left as you look at the engine from the front of the car. This is on order but no idea its ETA. I couldn't tell you about a wiring fault or dash fault. I did put a new stereo in last week but its been running fine since, except the leaking dud sensor, I dont think I touched anyhting I shouldn't have touched... Sorry that probably doesn't help much. How do I test the engine oil pressure???
-
Pulled up, left for 10-15 mins, topped it up about half a litre 10/40(it already had some oil in there, I thought it would be bone dry) then hobbled to work at low revs. It made it to work with no issues, but I am worried about driving home now. Do you think it could be the pressure sensor on the oil filter housing. I already know this leaks and is needs replacing. I couldn't get this sensor from allparts yesterday and VW's T.P.S. outlet has ordered it for me but couldn't tell me when it gets here. So I'd imagine in a weeks or 2's time... Kill me now!

My vr6 just had the oil warning ligt and alarm come on, i know the sensor on the oil filter is knackered. What should i do????
-
Sorry one last thing, This is probably really stupid, but, how does the wire connect to the new sensor? Is it a case of push it in the hole and tighten or does it need to be soldered on? Or does the new sensor come with a long wire I will need to 'run' to make the opposing connection?
-
That's a relief actually, I thought it might be a pricey fix. I'm going to try some pfte tape if that fails I'll get a new one all together. cheers people.

I'd say its the front left one? Appears to be a black cable from the pic (could be dirty though)

I tried some Fader lube which is a contact lube / cleaner for my dj mixer, didn't work. Kill me! I think I'll have to just buy the part. I havne't tried the removing the fluid cap, but I would be worried it would all splosh out so I;'d rather just buy the switch if I could...
-
I was checking the levels on the fluids yesterday and I noticed that the oil had gone down a little. I checked for any visible oil leaks and I noticed the oil filter housing was leaking a bit, the actual housing itself was 'wet' with oil. As I pulled up and turned her off I noticed it dripped from the housing onto the road, very slowly mind-ue. I let it cool down and checked again, there was a spot on the road about the size of a £2.00 coin or slightly larger (I'm guessing about 3-4 drops). I topped it up and left it over night. By the morning it had grown a little but there wasn't a lot there in all honesty, but it was deffo leaking. I am assuming the pressure of running it is making it leak out and when its not running it doesn't. But I need to get it fixed regardless or it will bother me. I am worried if I just keep topping it up it may fall off or worse, pouring ALL my oil out which wouldn't be good at all! My questions are. Could the leak be coming from the sensors that go into the top (think there was 3, which is wehat I assume as there is oil all over the whole of the housing) Or, Coming from a fracture in the housing itself, I know the bottom part of the housing is plastic which is ridiculous imo. Or could it be coming from some sort of gasket where it joins onto the engine itself? Is it safe to drive as long as I keep checking the oil before starting it up? what ballpark figure would it be to buy a whole new oil filter housing and sensors?

Hi Do you still have the plastic bottom part of the oil filter housing (the bit with the large 24'ish mm screw flats to remove it)? The part you take off to get to the actual filter. Mine is rounded off... -

Do you have the hand brake, I mean the leather bit your hand grips and the plastic bit that slips over the metal handbrake arm in the centrte consol between the seats. My leather handle has snapped off the arm cover bit? -
Jim, does that make the light go out?
-
Thanks Fla, Awesome, at least that should be straight forward to replace when I do the heater matrix. RE: the handbrake, is that the switch that is under the handbrake itself?
-
I have a couple of minor faults on my Corrado, the milage box that has the milage of the car the backlight has packed up. Can this be fixed with a bulb or do I need a whole new cluster? I need to change the heater matrix when it warms up so I can hold off on that until sunnier weekends, but any prep info would be appreciated. The handbrake light on the dash, always on. The handbrake itself works as it should although it is rather stiff to lift (the car has been sorned for the past 5 years though). I assumed it was the switch under the handle but I pushed it down with a metal rod and it didn't do anything. Could this be a wiring or some sort of sensor at the other end?

So this weekend was great, I got my baby taxed, mot'd & insured and I got to take her out for the first time in like 5 years. And she was brilliant, I think I love her that much more than when I got her! She truley felt amazing to drive. I love my corrado!!!

Although my baby now starts I suspect there is more problems. I was moving it from the mechanics (he was letting me store it there as its locked behind gates and my local youth just broke my window) forecourt to my work over the weekend (approx 200M). As I pulled out on to the road I did a little wheelspin by accident (I'd forgotten the power) and as I did I noticed thew ABS light came on and stayed on (it came on and went off when I initially stared it, like usual). It wasn't running for long and when I got to my work I turned her off to do the door window. As I was doing the window I had to move it so my colleague could get the forklift out, when I started it this time it came on and stayed on, I left it running to see if it went of, it didn't so I turned her back off thought bugger, and continued with the window. A few hours later once I had done the window I took her back the the garage forecourt and it came on and went off like usual. Was that just its way of saying "I've been sleeping for years, take me easy". Or is something knackered / on last legs?

Apparently, although I added 3 Jerry cans of super unleaded to the tank (that had about of £5's worth of 5 year old petrol in) the little bit of old stuff contaminated the new stuff, and in turn contaminated my sparks too. The guy I gave it to had to drain the fuel tank and replace the spark plugs, he reckoned the bad fuel had put a layer of stuff on the sparks so they were not igniting the dodgy petrol that was in the tank. At least it starts now, everytime.

Man thats sucks ass! Good luck with finding her safe mate, I'd be heartbroken if anything like that happened to mine, some little **** broke my window the other week and that was bad enough. They really should bring the death penalty back for swine like this! Typical that they tried charging you with the speeding ticket, the police are ****ing useless, it was declared stolen at this point right? Im assuming it was a rear facing one or that you couldn't you see the culprit?
