Thats a nice looking motor, haven't seen it knocking round the deen though. To be honest I haven't seen many C's at all. I think I need to pay more attention whilst I'm driving!

Just looking for peoples opinions on whether it is worth getting the C resprayed. It is starting to look a bit tired up close after some huge carpark dents, the sunroof scratches, stone chips and now some rust on the arches and under the spoiler. I'm probably going to be selling after christmas, so is it worth a respray or just getting dentmaster in? The rest of the C is pretty sweet. It has done 126k with all new VW suspension in may and a full VWSH, it's also got full leather. So what do people think?

Was the storm anyone on here then? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJnBztKvres

It started for me when i was in my early teens, my mates older brother had a string of cool vw's. From a beach buggy to a mint mk1 cabrio with deep dish's. Then meeting the rest of his mates with campers and beetles really got my into my aircooled dubs. Then when I was about 15 he turned up with a mint g60. I had never seen one before and more importantly never heard one before. It was a couple of years old and looked like nothing else on the road, I was hooked. I started dreaming staight away. When I got to driving age I wanted a vw and nothing else, unfortunately I had to make do with my sisters old escort L. Then a couple of months after my test I saved up enough for an old mk1 golf. It needed a new engine straight away, but after a year with it it looked quite good when i sold it. Then, for my next car i went slightly off track, I had just started with the air force, getting a decent wage with a guarenteed income so I bought a brand new..... Saxo west coast. I thought it was cool for the first month or so then hated it with a passion. Not the best thing as I was tied in for two years with the contract. They aren't the most well made of cars, but i did get 2 years free insurance which turned to three years no claims when I stayed with them. This lead on to my next car, and the tender age of 20 i got what I thought was the closest thing to a realistic dream car, my mk 2 GTi. I loved this car and still miss it but it gave me nothing but trouble for 2 years. I had started going to shows again and kept dreaming of a c, a few of my mates now had mk2 GTi's so I wanted to stand out. Then in Dec 2003 I got back from the Gulf with a bit of money in the bank and a bonus and decided on a vr6. I wanted one there and then, but had to search for 2 months to find the one I wanted. Now I have it and love it and dread the day I will have to sell it, but I cant help thinking I need more power!

does this look like an 18 month old rad?
chewys_vr6 replied to matt_corradovr6's topic in Engine Bay
I've just had my rad changed, I got an ecp rad for 122 quid delivered and then got it fitted for 60. It looks alright so far but it was only last week. Another lad on here paid £300 Fitted for the same rad, but the garage he took it to charge near stealer prices. -
Nice looking splitty mate, I really do love them. This is a pic of my mate Grants at the all types show a couple of years ago. If you have seen this months Volksworld you might notice a few changes.

sorry mate, didn't mean to rub it in. It was things like that, that put me off the place. If you have any more work that needs doing, try Uplands in Upton. Thats where I had it done. Good blokes and Bob the owner knows what he is on about.
-
Had it done today, It cost 180 quid. thats 120 for the rad and 60 quid labour. happy with that! Better than degsy's (discount VW/AUDI) by £120!!

cheers mate, but I have found a garage. they were recommended by a mate who gets all his camper work done there. I took it down yesterday and he knew what he had to do, he said he had done a few before. Gave me a bit of confidence. It is going in in the morning, and he reckons it will be £80 labour at the most. :D

The garage in Wallasey is called KMG, it's on Kelvin Road (by the birkenhead bridge I think). The number for him is 638 4307. Spoke to him this morning and he quoted me £70ish for fitting the rad. He seemed to know what he was on about but was booked solid for the next three weeks, which I think must be quite a good sign. I'll keep him in mind for the future I think.

I've just been recommended a garage in wallasey. apparently he has done a few before and knows his c's. It was from a fellow vw lad so it should be ok. My mate has just offered me the use of his garage and tools aswell so i might give it a go myself. Should really as I am an engineer!
-
Cheers mate, but I have had some bad experiences with them in the past when I have taken my other vw's there. It was never anything serious but a few things with my friends aswell was enough to not go back. Cheers for your help anyway, I hope it goes alright for you.

Can anyone help? I drove down to my parents yesterday and the radiator gave in. (the price of living near the beach in Scotland I guess!) Does anyone know of a reliable garage on or near the Wirral to have a new one fitted? I don't really want to trust it to any old garage. Cheers in advance.

I let my mate finally have a go after months of whinging the other day. His final comment made me smile, " I can't believe you get to drive that everyday!" 8) Needless to say he wants one now.

I tried the battery yesterday and there was noy joy, so I think the alarm must need reseting, cheers for all your help guys
-
Cheers guys, I have tried changing the key fob batteries , so I will try the car battery today. Gavin I was somewhere nice and warm except sometimes it wasn't actually that warm. I will be in touch if it doesn't work to get your mates number. ta.

Can anyone help with this little problem? I was out of the country for a couple of months and left the c in storage at work. On the day of my return a mate tried to start it for me and the battery and alarm had gone dead, after hooking up some jump leads to the battery the alarm went off briefly until the c started and now it doesn't work at all. I spoke to the stealer and their advice was to bring it in so they could investigate further, but it would probably be cheaper just getting a new alarm than paying them. But does anyone have any clues?? cheers in advance.

saw a dragon green c running on what looked like 17's in elgin the other day. thought I had the only green one round here :(

I am probably tempting fate here but the only real problem I have had with mine is a water hose burst on the motorway. I do have the little rattles and squeaks but I can live with them for now. If you compare this to my mk2 gti which was a nightmare, it is really quite good. On the golf I had 2 power steering pumps within a year, engine mounts popping out, bonnet catches failing at 80mph and other bits and bobs. I was really quite happy to sell that on :D

vr6storm, thats the same guy, small world indeed. I asked her if she wanted to swap but she said no  . and speaking of small worlds.... Deviboy, I believe you know dobsie, he is actually in the photo of my c's rear end and thats his piece of jap crap in the background. Ask him about the little race at the lights on the way back from all types and see if he admits he was beaten. :D :D

will try and get there one day, I am down south untill june now, on leave and then with work. They are making me go to Newquay for a week when run to the sun is on, how inconsiderate   . Where abouts is the meet as I have a mate in aberdeen with a mint mk3 highline so I will probably turn up with him. No doubt see you soon m8.
