  1. I bought a donor Golf VR6 box from a scrapyard for £250, removed my box and sent both to gearboxman.co.uk who swapped the ratios box to box for £100/£200 (can't quite remember). Refitted my 'new' box and then even managed to sell the Golf VR6 box with G60 ratios inside for £250 :o)

  2. and it's the tallest one in the fuseboard, black in colour. Can't remember the number but 19 rings a bell....

Mine either doesn't have the variable intermittent or it doesn't work. I've just spent the last 10 mins trying!!

The relay is No. 19 and black, but isn't any bigger than any of the others on the board.

it also has A7051 printed on it in white (like the 19)

Part No. is 191 955 531 and it also says 'UH2 12V SIEMENS 72 WV 006 Made in Austria' on it.

Can one of you guys that has working variable intermittent please check your relay for me...

    Thanks

    Toby

  3. Just put the solid rubber one from other marks of Golf etc. on mine PN:191199262A, but you need the bracket to go with it for the conversion PN:357199471. Also, the bolt through the centre needs to be bought separately, can't remeber the PN for that but you'll be able to see on ETKA. Apart from that it's a straight swap. Get the bracket and bolt from VW and the mount from either VW or GSF and the the like. All in it cost about £45 I think...???

A mate of mine has just done his too, with the solid rubber VW front mount and gearbox mount (rather than the jelly ones) and the set up on both is great.

  4. Does anyone have pics of the early upper IC piping that goes to the TB bend? (the bit that holds the CO pot) On Etka the part is split accross chassis numbers and I need to visualize the differences between the early and the late piping.

    Cheers.

  5. Spec: Jabbasport R1 charger & ind kit with cold feed through carbon canister hole, 68 mm pulley, SNS V-4 (UK), 3.5 FPR, p&p TB, no boost recirc, port matched head and manifolds, JE pistons (stnd size), stnd injectors and IC (FMIC coming soon...), Milltek exhaust - no cat. 6 degrees advance (as far as I can go before pinking), 450 @ CO pot, new: clean W6DPO's, knock & blue coolant temp sensors, HT leads dizzy cap, rotor arm etc...

I've heard about the hall sender being a possibility too - but thats about it - and apparently it's a pig to do. I spoke to Vince @ Stealth and he thought it unlikely that the hall sender is faulty as that would probably show up as a much bigger problem (i.e. not running).

Change one thing at a time and see I suppose...

  6. Having had my car on the rollers I've been wondering about the flat spot that it has at 5000RPM and it seems that I'm not alone. There are at least 2 others in the UK with exactly the same problem as well as a few in the USA. We're all at a loss as to how to get over it - although there are various schools of thought...

It could help if we were able to compare specs and plots of different G60's with/without the same flat spot. So if anyone who was there (and of course anyone else who wasn't with a plot of their G60) could post their specs and plots it would be appreciated.

So here's the plot(s) that I got: your starter for ten...

    Cheers

    Toby

  7. A big thanks to Funky and Stealth for a great day. :D :D

Pretty pleased with the result I got - will be interesting to see what happens after I get around to fitting the FMIC.

Also now have a bit of a hole at 5000RPM to try and figure out !?! Gives me something to do !!!

I think I paid £12 per quart for MT90 which is what they listed for the Corrado g60 box. If I remeber correctly it's sold by the 'quart', and so I got 2 quarts which is actually slightly short of the metric capacity required, but they told me that if the level did show up a little low having put it in - just add a little EP80/90 to make it up.

They didn't even charge me carriage !!

  9. To agree with steveo29 I am running MT90 - but adjusting the linkage with the proper VW tool made the biggest difference to my gearbox. If you speak nicely to you local VW service department they'll probably lend you the tool to do it yourself(I don't think its one they use often). The VW ref no. for the tool and the adjustment procedure is in the Bentley manual.
