Hello Would like to buy the front seats - have sent you a PM. Cheers David

Looks like Bally and I could split it between us!

Hello - I need a working sunroof mechanism for a 1994 VR6, with or without the motor, as the nearside riser/clip (?) has broken on mine. The dealers tell me the repair kits are obsolete and Passats with sunroofs seem rare enough to be an endangered species. Fix it and leave it closed seems the best plan!

Hello: Would you split the interior? I only really need the front seats. Cheers David

Do any other VW models use the same levers that tilt the seat backs forward and the same tee handles that adjust the seat height as the Corrado? I've managed to break the lot on my 94 VR6!

Thanks CazzaVR - do you know whether the isv should be fully open from cold and which sensor causes the isv to open?

Just in time for the real cold, the VR6 has become a very poor cold starter, it spins away on the starter motor but does not fire. When it does eventually fire the idle is quite weak until it has warmed up a few degrees and then it is fine. I use the time waiting for it to warm up to give thanks for having a good battery. When warm it starts easily enough, idles fine and runs smoothly - although it does have a very occasional momentary hiccup as if it is going to cut out but doesn't and it does smell of petrol when hot. I have replaced the 109 relay, cleaned the wire MAF with contact cleaner (carefully!) taken the isv off and cleaned and lubricated it. The ecu is not sitting in wet leaves or water and I sprayed it with WD40 just for good measure. I cannot see any leaks anywhere. When the isv wiring is connected the isv swings to fully open when the starter is turned. The car starts better with the isv wiring disconnected. I do not know whether the isv should be fully open from cold, or what sensor causes the isv to open. Can anyone help? Any ideas what else could cause poor cold starting? Cheers.

How I wish that my 1994 VR6 was using only half a litre of coolant a month! It has got a real water loss problem but where from? All the hoses are in good condition with no signs of staining, the expansion tank lid is new, the oil filler cap and dip stick show no sign of that yellow sludge that would suggest the head gasket had gone and there is no leak inside the car from the heater matrix. It does not drip water when standing. But it does produce steam from the exhaust - suggesting to me that the head gasket has gone - but there is no water in the oil. Do VR6 head gaskets fail for coolant only? Anyone get any other ideas what might be the problem? Do you know how much is it likely to set me back to get a new headgasket fitted? All help will be gratefully received! Cheers David

I have driven both a 231 and a 190 RX8 and there is not a great deal to choose between them in every day driving. The 190 has a bit more low down torque and uses less petrol. The 190 costs less too. An RX8 does sound like it is electric but the engine is so smooth that you really do need the buzzer - the rev limiter is pretty abrupt in stopping you blowing it up when it kicks in shortly after the buzzer - not least because it is so tempting to drive everywhere at high revs. The handling is spot on and the ride is better than many saloon cars. The leather interior is really nice and an RX8 will carry four adults comfortably - the half doors make it easy to get in the back. The standard Bose stereo is top notch. You do have to check the oil every 500 miles, but how hard is that? It takes only a few minutes. A 190 RX8 does about 22 mpg but a VR6 only does 25mpg, if that - so who really cares about the petrol? A VR6 will pull away from a 190 RX8 from a rolling start but the Mazda will close it down if you go fast enough. If you have to travel a long way the Mazda is much much quieter, you would hardly know you were doing 100mph, it is so very civilised. An RX8 does not have the character of a Corrado, it is wider and the boot opening is small but an RX8 looks good. particularly in dark colours, it is fast, practical and comfortable and loaded with useful extras. And the brakes and the handling are splendid. I was convinced, so I bought one. But I kept the Corrado. One day I might sell the RX8 but I doubt I will sell the VR6.

Whoops, apologies due for not getting back sooner! Part has no number on it and was found inside the car and it only lives in the boot because I do not know where else to put it. If it goes into my garage it will never be seen again, unless I do not need it any more. This is the way of things stored in garages in my experience. I am a bit confused as to why the car should be lighter with the bit stored in the boot rather than inside but then I am not an engineer. One way to find out what it is would be to throw it away. Then it would suddenly become obvious!! Cheers David

Olly I was not suggesting a design change but acting out of self interest! The rocker on my old switch broke pretty seriously - the inner walls have broken off below the level of the outside of the rockers so the pivots are not there! Cheers David

Really excellent piece. Thanks. I'll have a pair if you get them made - I have just spent £53 on a switch and would like to avoid doing that again! Any chance of a pair with the pivots? Cheers David

I had my rear discs, pads and wheel bearings replaced about 1000 miles ago - by a garage as I could not get the caliper bolts undone - and the offside rear has started to rumble. Today as I drove out of the car park at work, over a some speed humps, the car gave out three or four really loud short cheeeeeeeep noises. Sounded like metal on metal. Took the car into a Kwikfit (staffed by very helpful Corrado enthusiasts) who put it up on the lift but we could see nothing wrong, no sign of anything rubbing anywhere, no leaks from the shocks, all the bushes and bearings in place, no obvious problems. Then I read the post from Monoboy. Is there anything other than the wheel bearings that makes loud high pitched noises? Rumbling I didn't mind, but rear wheel steering round the M25..... no I think not! Cheers
