Hello People, A few quick questions on the timing chain and tensioners on a VR6. One of my mates said to me that cos the corrado has a timing chain i wont need to worry about it, unlike some other cars that have timing belts instead. After reading some threads its obviously not that simple. So was wondering what i should be looking out for in my car that has done 100k, and is this the time to start worrying about it! :( The car has FSH so does this mean they should be in good nick any way Cheers folks

I was just taking it fairly easy not on the power going round the roundabout, but the brake compensator has just been changed out aswell. Ive still got winter tyres on from the previous owner ( still got plenty tread left though) but im about to fit goodyear F1's.

Hi I went round a roundabout at the weekend not to fast but there was a bit of surface water on the road and the back end flipped out. Is this normal in a C as in front wheel drive cars I would have expected under steer not over steer? Could this be a problem, like camber set up or something else? Shouldn’t be the rear bushes as they were just changed out. Is there only one set of bushes in the rear of a C? Ps is camber different to the tracking? Cheers

cheers for the new replies. The garage did say that my wheel bearing was fcuked as well, so I guess I should replace the lot. Is this going to cost me an arm and a leg and how easy is it to change the bearing myself? as ive not got much cash at the moment to spend as im getting a new flat. Ah the joys of corrado ownership!

Went and got my ABS checked out today and found out its the front drivers side speed sensor. What i want to know is how much is a new one and how easy is it to do myself? Cheers
-
Hi Cheers for the replies, a few more questions though? When you changed this sensor did it help with the starting as well as it not running right when cold? Is there anyway to check it out or is it just get a new one and the last question where about is this on the VR? Cheers for the help guys

Hi I’ve got a couple of problems with my VR6. When starting the car either hot or cold it needs to turn over a few times, usually turning for about 5 seconds before it actually starts, is this normal for VR6’s? The other problem when the car is cold it doesn’t run right, if I give the car the foot and rev it up (when pulling away from roundabout’s and junctions etc) to about 2000-2500 rpm it starts to splutter and nearly stall :( . Any help would be gratefully received. Cheers

Hi On Saturday my dreaded ABS light came on, wondering if anyone has any ideas. What happened was I was power washing my car on Saturday with my power washer, car was looking proper bo. Then went for a drive that night and went over a nasty pothole and the light came on. Stopped the car started it again and it cleared and the light was off until I hit another pothole. The light is on all the time just now and was wondering if it could be as simple as being a dodgy connection at one of the wheel sensors? The other thing I noticed this morning was when I had been driving for about 1 min a weird ticky, rumbley vibrating noise came from the brake pedal area in the engine bay, could this also be related? Cheers

My VR's handling seems a bit suspect as well. i was going to be doing some work on my beast at the weekend and was wondering what i should look for when ckecking out my rear axle bushes? Cheers

Hi gents I’ve got a problem with my clutch. I’m pretty sure the slave or master cylinder (probable the slave would I be right in guessing?) is on its way out, the usual only getting resistance through the clutch half way down and it sometimes sticks half way down. If anyone has any other ideas please let me now. What I want to know is how much for the slave cylinder on its own, so I can do it my self, and if its not that easy how much to get it fitted? The other thing is when engaging/releasing the clutch I’m getting a squeaky, clunky, clicky noise from the clutch/gearbox area. Would this be related? Help much appreciated. Cheers

Hope youve fixed your problem by now but if not, i had the exact same problem a while back. I took the car to the garage and they said a fault came up for the MAF so they cleared it, i left it at that but it happened again about a week later so i disconnected the plug and gave the connections a clean with sand paper and WD40. Its been fine since and that was about 4 months ago. (touch wood) Don’t know if it’s a coincident or not but I had just filled up with optimax as wel cheersl

Ive had my excellent VR6 for nearly a year now. No real problems apart from a vibration that comes through the chassis (a vibratig feeling coming up through the seat) when i go above 70mph and it gets worst the higher i go :( . I dont think its the wheels neededing balanced cos they where new when i bought it, but could be wrong. The guy before me fitted winter tyres would this cause any problems. One more thing what are the best size of alloys to fit a VR6. Any help would be greatly appriciated so i can find out the top speed out of my c without losing my fillings. :D Cheers
