1. Hi all, I'm looking for an Aqua Blue Pearl bonnet in good condition with good paint for my VR6. It doesn't need to perfect but it needs to be in better condition than my current bonnet which has some irreparable dents in it and ruined paint. The car will be getting a full respray in a couple of years so it just needs to look okay until then. Cheers!
2. I've spoken to another garage about why they were so much money and he says that because the insurance companies require a warranty on all the work they carry out, they don't do spot repairs to panels as they can't guarantee the work, they only replace, or repair the whole thing. That at least is a small explanation. Perhaps a classic car workshop is the only choice.
3. That's not a bad idea actually. I might spend some time calling a few places to see what they say. So frustrating!
4. Yeah I think there is definitely an element of that for sure. It's also probably easier to just replace the panels, instead of taking the time for a proper job. I had one place insist I needed a whole respray at £6000 because I had a large dent in the bonnet, a blistering front bumper, stone chips on the wings, and a few really small parking dings in the door. Utter jokers. Another place said that it would be £1500 to repair the dent and repaint the bumper and not touch the dents or the wings, when I asked what that was based on, he said it was just what he reckoned..... Presumably these places must have an hourly rate somewhere in the region of £30-£50 per hour plus materials, and have a rough idea of how long it will take. I can't understand why I can't just get a straight quote. Hoping someone will have a decent recommendation for the Manchester area.
5. Can anyone recommend a body shop to get a few dents pulled out and some small bits of paintwork done in Manchester? I have tried few places but prices seem to vary hugely and don't appear to be based on anything but a number plucked from the air. It's getting a bit tedious driving from body shop to body shop. Cheers.
6. £180 including postage - open to sensible offers. Brand new, aluminium, powder coated white thermostat housing for 12v VR6. £180 including postage. This is made by Eurowise in the states. This was sent to me as a replacement for a faulty one I received last last year. I never fitted it in the end as I stored the car away for a while. These come in around $280/$300 ish including postage and import fees. I'm open to offers.
7. I had mine done by them a few months back now and they were really good. I spoke to someone called Nigel on the phone who was exceptionally knowledgable, we spoke for a good 20 minutes or so. We even ran into a few issues with the master cylinder I sent to them which they sorted out quickly a well. Generally I think they were awesome and the only criticism would be that the powder coating they did could have been better, it is a little patchy in places. Everything else they nailed.
8. Hi Chris, do any of those master cylinders still have the part numbers on? The second one looks very very similar to what I'm hunting for. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
9. The part number for the abs models is 358611019D which is 23.81mm. The smaller 22mm has a very similar part number so be sure to check if you come across one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
10. Past Parts can refurbish yours for about £160 i think. I can't get mine out is the problem as I live too far from where my car is stored. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
11. Join the club, I've been trying for months. Finally had one, and my Hermes lost it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
12. Just spotted a red C in a hazard perception video I needed to take for work. It was the very first clip and I got so excited I clicked on it despite it obviously not being a hazard, probably wasn't the best move.
13. I would send off the one that's on my car but I currently live 200 miles away from where my car is stored. So when I get the time to do some work on it, I want to do the swap there and then, rather than have to just remove the current dead one to send of for refurbishment as it may be another 6 months before I get time to fit it. I just hope someone has a second hand one they can sell me soon!
14. Just went back through the messages we sent and unfortunately it doesn't match, yours was ever so slightly patterned. It may well be off an earlier interior although I'm no expert. It's proving really hard to track this bolster down. I guess most people who could afford a VR6 probably didn't choose the nastiest, cheapest gray interior ever made like mine ;-) Either that or they have all worn through and there's no such thing as a good condition one.
15. 1) So my brake master cylinder died at the beginning of the year and now after a 6 month restoration my master cylinder is still dead and it's all that's left to do to get it through an MOT. Does anybody please have one in working condition???? 2) I've been trying for a year or so now to track down a late right hand VR6 gray cloth bolster in good condition. My car currently doesn't have one since it disintegrated. I'd even consider buying a whole seat just to get it. I believe the VR6 gray bolster material is all the same regardless of what pattern the seat centre and backs are. http://the-corrado.net/images/attach/jpg.gif
