  1. She didn't mention any audible - but hey stereo would have been on - will check if it was amber or red..... anyhows - light is off now and she is back on her way so hopefully all is ok - will let you know more - thanks for all the advice and concern - love this forum

Out of interest - is it same amber light for both bonnet and oil? which is worse red or amber? if its level in the sump does that mean oil is extremely low (being sump)

  2. OK - girlfriend has just called me she is on M5 on the way to Liverpool - her oil lighgt has come on on a 2006 beetle 1.8t - ive told her to get off motorway buyt some oil - let it cool down and let oil level level out for 10 mins and check her levels - then top up if needed and if oil light goes off then all ok - does that sound like good advice? thanks

  3. Just fond this - so does this suggest you can completely remove ABS and will then pass the MOT? But you cant just pull a fuse.

"If an ABS or ESC system has been intentionally rendered inoperative, the whole system must be removed. However, this does not apply to sensor rings or other ABS components which are an integral part of another component e.g. brake disc or drive shaft."

  4. OK - got my copy and pretty happy with the write up - a few technical details they have wrong - but really good although not sure they liked my colour ?? I think its the best.. Any way - they rated it as the best of the 5 cars. Final paragraph.... "But only one coupe kept us coming back for more - the wonderful Corrado VR6. Its a genuine drivers car that actively involves you in the process of belting along a good road. Its already going up in value and will continue to do so. And right now, it makes you feel like a hero whenever you drive it. Oh and it looks pretty good too"

On top of that there's two pages of enthusiastic write up - get a copy - worth a read.

Gives values at useable £4500, Good £7000 and concours £9000

  5. Broke it properly :( am still in shock and not reached the mourning phase yet. But new engine has done something. I suspect a valve has broke off and gone into the cylinder. Or a con rod snapped. Not sure but sounds screwed and i had to drive it about 15miles home like that.

That's terrible news Jim! Hope you find its not as bad as you fear
