So the 2L head would bolt onto my KR bottom end with no modification with better power and cooling? What about the CIS system I currently have on my car? Is that the same as well?
-
You guys are throwing out all of these head style numbers and I'm just a little lost. I'm not a VW... Well I wasn't a VW guy. So I'm trying to learn all this ****. So correct me if I'm wrong but you're saying the 2.0 16v head and the 1.8 16v PL head will work on my 1.8 16v KR block. Is that what's going on here?
-
No worries man. I'm sure I can find something that works. Do you happen to know if the 2.0 16v head can bolt up to the 1.8 16v?
-
Honestly I completely forgot to update my profile. I left England in November and am in the states now. Which makes getting parts even harder for me.
-
Where are you located and what kind of price would you want from the head?
-
I don't need cams I just need a head. Honestly I probably only need valves but I'm too lazy to just replace them. That's why I was looking for a head.
-
I was actually planning on swapped both cams. From what I've found the "euro" cams are a little more aggressive.
-
Thanks for the tip man. From what I understand from that post it will work for me to use the head that I'm getting this weekend. Thank god for that. I was getting a little worried about it.

I am the guy that posted on vortex. I figured the more I put the question out there the better off my chances are to find an answer.

Hey guys I have a 1990 Corrado 1.8 16v. I imported my Corrado from the UK to the US. I'm currently having a few issues and I'm trying to figure out how much of a difference there is from the kr to the pl 16v. I'm pretty sure I vent a valve due to timing belt failure on startup. I'm not a long time Vw guy and I'm pretty lost when it comes to what I can and can not do with this motor. Does anyone know if I can swap a pl 16v head onto the kr bottom end currently in my car? I have learned that the cams in the kr and a bit more aggressive than the pl but other than that I haven't found anything saying the motors are different. I'd appreciate any insight into this little dilemma if anyone knows anything that could be helpful to me. My worries go beyond the bent valve and the heads though. Can I use most parts from the pl on my car? I need to be able to fix when she breaks and we all know vws can be a little steep when it comes to repairs so the last thing I need to to ship all my parts from the UK to the US.

Hey man just a quick update if you're still wondering about your Corrado. It is safely in the United States and I get the most incredible looks driving it around. Oh you might have forgotten to tell me that the deep dish wheels don't fit on the car without spacers. Other than that the Corrado seems to be in good shape and I plan to keep it for a long while.

So I finally got a multimeter on the wiring for the car. It looks like the relays from the uprated loom have gone bad. Is this common on these looms? From how it sounded they were supposed to be pretty good.
-
I've taken a closer look and it looks to me that it already has a replacement loom. Would it be the same situation? Just replace the old loom?

It's a 1990 1.8L 16V

Hey everyone, I'm having troubles with my headlights right now. They switch on but they're really dim and don't give me much of any light. I've taken a look at the wiring and can't fin any breaks or anything that could lead to this happening. It's both headlights that are effected and have no idea what it could be.

Hey everyone. I swear I fix one problem and run into two more. The problem I am having right now is the pin that holds the alternator tensioner in place fell out the other day, now there is no way to to keep my alternator belt tight. Has anyone had this problem and know what do do about it?

I've got 16x7.5 Borbet T's front and rear but the rear has a one inch spacer. I rub pretty hard on a decent bump but normal driving isn't so bad. I have 2 16x9 for the rear but I'm a bit scared to put them on before I roll my fenders. I seem to have a softer suspension than I should though.

I will check that out tomorrow. Thanks for the advice and will let your know what I find. It's weird though. It doesn't constantly flash but when it does it's at weird times and when it wouldn't actually be hot.

Hey everyone I'm trying to figure out what's going on with my corrado. My overheating light is constantly flashing. Unfortunately my temp Gauge doesn't work but the flashing light makes no sense. It's almost always on. Even when I fire up my car for the first time it's on. Does anyone have any suggestions or has had this problem? I just had my water pump replaced and all of the leaks have been taken care of as well. Could it be the heat sensor?
-
That's fair. Now beyond that does anyone have any ideas where to find a used head that's complete?
-
I'm not looking for any tuning stuff. I may have some bent valves so just looking for a way to replace the top end without dipping too far into my wallet. The car will be traveling to the states in a few months where I will probably drop a vr6 in the car. Anyways I'm just trying to get the car moving again so slickly possible ideas I'm not looking for power

Hey everyone I was wondering if there is a head that can be swapped onto the 1.8 block? If so what all would it take to do so.

Alright guys here's the deal. My starter died on me a few days ago and due to the fact of not having any new replacements in the country I had mine rebuilt. I reinstalled the starter as it should be. I turned the key and all I got was a click. I figured that leaving the car sit for a few days maybe the battery had died so I gave it a jump and the same thing happened all I get is a click sound. Can anyone give me some advice as to what would cause this to happen. The starter was taken out and put back in a few days later and nothing else has been done to the car. If it matters at all it is a 1990 1.8 16v.
-
I had the same problem. I talked to my parts guy just to find out that there was only one in the country and it wasn't the right one. I had mine rebuilt but take a look at rockauto.com I'm pretty sure they have them. It just might cost a bit for shipping.

Well guy I got my parts for is pretty sure he knows what it is and I just ordered it for 130 quid. Hopefully it's the right one.
