  1. Hey everyone I could use some help. My starter decided it wanted to strip out today but when I talked to my parts guy he asked if it was a 1 or 1.4 kW. I don't have a clue how to tell. Anyone have any advice or ways to tell? 1990 1.8 16V.
  2. Well that's pretty awesome information. Thank you. Does anyone have any suggestions as to forced induction? Supercharger/turbo pros/cons better power and general cost along with the workload to make it happen.
  3. Will that 50mm bolt up without modification?
  4. That's good to know. Learning new engine codes is always fun. Defiantly good information to know though.
  5. What do you guys mean when you say "KR"
  6. Well along with price I not afraid to do a lot of work to the car. I do all of my own maintenance. I know you guys here in the UK like paperwork and history of the car along with recipes but back in the states it's not a huge concern plus I plan on keeping the car a while. In just a few days I've already fallen in love with it.
  7. What years were the mk2 golfs? And I apologize for my lack of knowledge of Volkswagen. I'm coming from a lot of Honda and American cars.
  8. I'll keep that in mind and see what I can find before I leave. Also I heard that there might be a fuel rail for the 1.8 that gets rid of all of the lines going to the air box. Does anyone know anything about that?
  9. Honestly that is still undecided. Hopefully somewhere in the Carolina's or Florida. The porting and general head work should be pretty easy to get done in the states but I don't know if I'll be able to find cas for the 1.8 the US spec cars have the g60 I believe and also came supercharged so I may not be able to find parts for it very easily.
  10. Well when I leave the UK in October and I will be importing this car to America so I need to keep the original motor in the car. Besides I not overly worried about the price for something so unique as the corrado. Do you know of any websites I can check out some parts prices?
  11. Hey everyone, I'm brand new to the corrado and Volkswagen world in general. Just a few days ago I purchased a 1990 corrado 1.8 16v. It's in need of a few little bits here and there to get her running better but once I get back to running well I would like to start on some performance modifications. I am open to suggestion or guidance or even just some websites to look into. I haven't been very successful in finding parts in my usual locations. Also I am American currently living in England. The car is a UK spec car if that makes a difference.
  12. Oh and does anyone know of anyone who roles fenders (wings) my rear tires rub hard and it's tearing up my tires pretty bad.
  13. Thanks for the responses. I suppose I should have mentioned why I have my concerns for the valve cover gasket. I am getting oil in my spark plug tubes. I'm just assuming that it's the seals that are going which would be included with a valve cover gasket. If that's incorrect feel free to put me in my place about it. Also I was wondering if Corrado owners had get togethers or anything ever? If so what's the best way to find out about such events?
  14. Ha thanks. Unfortunately I've already realized a few issues with the car but nothing too serious. At least not that I can tell yet. Is it normal for the valve cover gaskets to go on these?
  15. Hello to all Corrado owners and lovers. I am new to this world. I've have always been interested in the Corrado but never had the means to own one until now. I picked up my first Corrado this weekend. It is a 1990 1.8 16v. I don't know a whole lot about these cars but it sure is one of my favorites already. It's in no way fast but still a blast to drive and I get looks everywhere I go. Like I said I don't know much about these cars so if anyone can point me in a good direction for parts and whatnot that would be fantastic. Also any advice from seasoned Corrado owners would be very welcome.
