Hi, Did you get a chance to look at your manual ?
-
Yeah. 9a motor. Runs like a pile of poo. What issues you mean ?
-
As above. Just fitted a new distributer (what a rip off) and need to set my timing. Connected up my strobe and what do you know....no bleedin timing marks to be seen on the crank pulley . Used the TDC mark on the cam wheel and set to "some" before TDC, but naturally I want to do the job properly. Thanks....

Yes you can chrome alloy. The chrome platers will have done loads before so they will know what to do with regards to threads / ports / underside..... Chroming is done over a highly polished surface. If you give the cover to the platers that is the first thing they will do, then it gets a covering of brass or copper (can't mind which) and then the shiny stuff. You can save yourself some £ by polishing the cover yourself but you will need a proper aluminium polishing kit with abrasives / sisal mop / cutting compounds + finnishing mops. Thing is that you can get such a good finnish with polishing it is questionable if chroming is worth the extra expense ? Does keep easier though.

:?: Anyway good info, need to do this with my C.

Yeah checked all wiring out. Even had the fuse box out to make sure. I get 12V at the connector when I switch the ignition on but dont get any spark from the coil. Could the hall effect sensor be gubbed or is it my ignition amp ? Anybody ?
-
Hi, My C started to missfire then eventually cut out the other day. I seem to have traced this down to the ignition amp on the coil. Unfortunately there does not seem to be a single breaker in the UK with one of these. Euro car parts / GSF and Volkswagen have none in the UK !! What is going on ? Looks like my car is as good as a garden shed for the moment. ... Anyway, does anybody know FOR SURE how I can either replace the ignition amp or replace the whole coil / amp unit with a later model ? My car is a 94 2L 16V - the one with the round coil and wee flat ignition amp strapped to it. Any help much appreciated. Kenny

Either dirty sensor or a stuck valve in the pump unit. Needs plugged in to diag equipment for a quick answer. Indipendant VAG garage will do this probably for nothing. (Mine did)

Hi, Thanks. I will need to look at the clutch then, it doesn't feel particulary brilliant. It improved after the oil change ( I used synthetic ) I remember having a Scirroco years ago and it wouldn't go into first unless you slotted it into 2nd beforehand. This seems to work on the Corrado too. Just need to get the cold and lumpy idle sorted... I looked for my ISV today but I don't have one the same as the pictures I have seen on here. Mine is bigger and shorter. I've had 8v Golfs etc so I know what I'm looking for. Any ideas ? What goes on Corrado wise in Scotland ?

Hello All, I just got myself a black 1994 corrado 16V :D I have always wanted one and sold my Seat Cupra to get one (miss the 1.8T lump though) Anyway I have a few questions which I can't seem to find answers to by searching. 1. How do I tell a 1.8 and 2.0 engine apart ? engine numbers ? 2. Changed my gearbox oil but still sometimes crunches into first. Is it cable adjustment or syncromesh ? 3. The car stalls on idle only when cold ? 4. What diameter is the inlet manifold ? 44 or 50mm ? Thanks in advance... Kenny

If you look at the rocker cover you will see that the timing belt only goes round one cam pully; thus yes is has a chain to connect to the two cams together. Anybody know when this should be changed if ever ?
