  5. I did consider painting 469 but it would have been a full windows out doors bonnet tailgate and bumper removal job but didnt think i could justify which is why it was time to part company Im glad you are taking it to the next stage What was the problem with the paint work you had done Id like to see some pictures As for my VR ill get some pics up when i drag it out of my mums garage Cheers Marc
  6. I dont post much on here but have been a member for nearly 5 years since getting my first corrado which i sold a couple of months ago to a guy called andy (veedub21 i think) I thought i would miss it but dont and i was going to use the money to recommission my vr6 but being out of work meant the money soon went. Now i am in a bit of a dilemma as i have a mk2 golf mk4 golf and a vr6 corrado and no job I love driving the mk2 as it is like a go cart the mk4 is a nice comfortable ride. The corrado hasnt turned a wheel in 2 and years and i dont think i will ever get it back on the road as an ongoing back problem means i am unable to get comfortable driving it I need to do something with it ideally it needs a repaint as the body is edgey to say the least thats not a problem though as im a painter by trade but the cost of new trims paint cost of mot etc is something that i havent got right now Ive thought about it a lot and would like to use the vr6 running gear in my mk2 because it is the ideal doner So should i break a 1 owner corrado take what i need sell on the rest or sell it complete and buy a mk3 golf instead for the conversion Im not looking to sell at the moment im just trying to weigh up my options Opinions please Cheers Marc
  7. Look on german ebay ive bought kw suspension for 3 of my vws from there. I got kw variant 2 for my corrado for about £670 delivered from a guy called auto-trend and he usually sends them in a couple of days HTH Marc
  8. Off the top of my head Alpine white is L90E paint code which is the white used on corrados until 1992 when it changed to candy white paint code LB9A Hope that helps Marc
  9. To do it properly you would have to fit a sunroof roof and you would have to remove the tailgate front windscreen front wings front and rear bumper and roof rails roof lining interior etc Then drill out all the spot welds cut the roof off clean up all the flanges spot weld the new roof on seal it up feed the drain tubes down the pillars paint the new roof and then put it all back together If you couldn't do this yourself then be prepared to spend the best part of 3K Personally i wouldn't even bother just get a corrado with a sunroof hth Marc
  10. Heres a very quick run down of materials and what you need to do 80 grit 180 grit 240 grit 400 wet and dry 600 wet and dry 800 wet and dry Scotchbrite Filler Etch primer High build primer 1" and 2" masking tape Masking Paper If you have any dents the use 80 grit take the paint back to bare metal then fill as required, when you're happy then feather out the surrounding area with 180 and 240 grit each taking out the scratches caused by the previous grade. Deep scratches can be done in the same way but without the filler Light scratches and stone chips should be flatted wet with 400 then 600 grit until bare metal shows with a halo effect. Once your happy wet flat the whole panel with 600 wet or use a scotchbrite dry repeat for all the panels you want to prime. Any areas of bare metal should be etch primed then a suitable primer applied. Don't use newspaper and don't prime up to edges of your masking as you will end up with an edge. Once the primer has dried apply a guide coat of black paint and wet flat using 800 paper until the guide coat has disappeared. Always use plenty of clean water when wet flatting, a block where possible and don't let the rubbing down residue dry on the panel take it off with a sponge or shammy. Once you realise that its going to cost a minimum of £100 in materials and you need a primer gun compressor and 2 pack safe mask plus a good week to prepare to an acceptable standard The level of preparation work reflects in the finish of the paintwork so unless you are really confident in your ability its best to leave well alone as you can create more work for the painter, I am at college at the moment working towards being a painter and we do work for customers a lot who say ive done the prep work its all ready to paint and 2 weeks later its still being prepped I hope i haven't put you off too much and if you need any advice just pm me Cheers Marc
  11. Did you use the 280mm calipers or modify the slider bolts and use your 16v calipers, as the piston in the 280mm calipers is bigger i think so will require more force (travel) to work HTH Marc
  12. You could try http://www.jppolishing.co.uk/ good work and reasonable prices HTH Marc
