As above I'm looking for a passenger side top trim that sits on top of the door card next to the window. The sun's had mine and it's all split

Need a replacement Aerial base and gasket for 95 VR6
John Blount replied to John Blount's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
Just in case anyone needs one, an aerial off a Fiat 500 fits perfectly and even has the right connectors. -
Yes my car is a late 95, where would be best to get the ECU refurbished that is reliable?

What year is your car though? Mines a 95 and all the aerials I've seen have the wrong connector! I believe I need a RAKU 1 aerial but all of them I've seen on e-bay etc are RAKU 2 meaning it won't connect to the cable running to the radio? -
Replaced the blue temp sensor for a genuine VW one and it's still exactly the same, poor idle and an error code blaming the ISV even though it's got a brand new Bosch one on and I've tried another known working one, still showing a fault! Think it's time to change the ECU and see if that sorts it.

Thanks for the advice but I need the actual aerial base as well as the gasket. -
There's no test as far as I know other than when you turn the ignition on. I've just had a similar thing when my high beam "tell tail" bulb wasn't working which is a MOT fail. Best thing to do is take the binnacle out and take the clear cover off the front, remove the black shroud off the LED's and swap the one you think is failed with one of the other ones as they just pull out just make sure you put them in the right way round as there polarity sensitive so won't work if the wrong way around. You never know if it's always been like that some one may have put the LED in the wrong way so that's all it might be.

Can anyone recommend a replacement aerial base and where to get one from? Mines all split plus the gaskets missing and it's going for a re-spray in June so I need to get one. Anyone brought one that's a known fit??
-
I'm still having bother, I've changed my ISV (which was a brand new Bosch one)for one that is known to work and it's still the same! Tried a replacement MAF and a replacement throttle body position sensor still no joy! Did find though when the blue temp sensor was changed or another used one it made it worse, I did buy a new one but it was an aftermarket one so I've ordered a proper VW one from a dealer. Could it be that simple!! Let's hope so.

Sorry Sean, good second hand one of what??
-
Yeah, says the ISV is at fault but it's brand new because of the same fault with the old one.
-
I've tried it from stone cold this morning and there is a distinct difference, it's still "hunts" a bit and if you drive off straight away I think it would stall but there is a difference. I will be trying some replacement bits such as MAF, ISV etc on Monday that are known to work so we will see what happens.

I replaced mine Sean, piece of cake to do only took about 1/2 hour.Take the o/s front wheel off and the plastic guards and access is easy. I got a complete tensioner and a belt for about £40

Right... I've had it Terra Cleaned this morning and WOW what a difference that's made, so much smoother on tick over and there's no hesitation at all when you plant your foot down what a difference 40 minutes makes! To be fair though I need to wait till tomorrow to see if this has had any impact on the poor idling as I need it to go stone cold. I suspect it won't have helped that at all but it can't have done any harm either so we will see. The two cans that are used are different of which the first one that's used is for cleaning the injectors and while that was being used you could see from the exhaust all the carbon being burnt off as heavy white smoke, not enough that the neighbours are going to moan but enough that you can see it was doing something. The second can is combustion chamber cleaner that gets rid of all the varnishes off the internal components in the engine, mine wasn't to bad by all accounts as there wasn't much to see coming out of the exhaust.

Arr I see what your saying... In my business if we say there's three weeks back order that's what we mean, didn't think of it like that!
-
They've been on 3 week back order since October as its the first place I looked, I don't think they bother updating it.
-
I think I'm going to buy every single part going and replace then one buy one till its sorted!! Lol I will sort it if it's the last thing I ever do..
-
Yeah it was a brand new Bosch one. You changed yours over then and that sorted it did it? Perhaps I've got a dodgy new ISV but I have checked it's working on VCDS and I can hear it operating... I suppose it doesn't mean it's working though.
-
That's very kind mate but I've brought a known working one off e-bay for £35.00 so hopefully that will prove it or not, but thanks very much anyway :thumbleft:
-
Sean, is SUB meant to mean ISV? Are you saying that you put a new ISV on originally and have just tried Harriers and it was better? I ask cause I brought a new ISV from euro and that made no difference yet the fault code still says its that??
-
Look in the WIKI there is a buying guide in there that's really good! Sunroof like you say, general rust a round the jacking points and filler cap. Poor idle issues are really common (trust me I know)and ABS issues are also common and an MOT fail so make sure you check. Really strong cars really compared to other makes so if the body and engine are strong you should be alright.
-
David is right, there that old now as long as the condition is Ok I wouldn't worry, more than likely it's had a replacement dash as he's said.
-
Is the TPS mechanically held in place internally, do you just un-bolt it and it falls off?? I never took that off when I cleaned the throttle body as I wasn't sure if I would adjust something that's been Ok for the last twenty years? Should I have taken this off and cleaned it??
-
Thanks for the input Sean, I've found a brand new throttle body but it's £400 OUCH. Don't mind buying it but I need to prove its that first, saying that it's only going to appreciate in value so might end up being a good buy!

Didn't see that... Sworrry.
