Does anyone have a a throttle body for a VR6 that they know works?
-
Would a cam position sensor cause my issue though?
-
On VCDS mine shows a steady increase in the throttle angle as I push the throttle it's not 'jurky' or missing bits etc or anything and it returns to about 12.5 degrees at rest which I believe as long as it's below 14 degrees that's fine? Does anyone know where I can get a known working throttle body to try before I replace it, don't mind spending the money but I don't want to just waste it either and buying one off e-bay which won't prove anything if that one doesn't work either, and knowing my luck it will have the same fault!

I did notice that the coolant temperature on VCDS was higher than the dash gauge ( VCDS was in the mid 80's and the dash gauge was just below 70) so I don't know if this has any relevance? What I did prior to fitting them permently was to plug all 3 new coolent sensors in while the engine was stone cold and just leave them loose hanging on the wiring and then start th car, this made no difference and it is the same as it always is.

I've replaced the all the water temperature sensors this morning and it's made no difference what so ever. Still really poor idle for around a couple of minutes where it wants to stall if you don't keep the Rev's up after that it's fine. As VW_Owner_85 says I'm thinking it could be the throttle body or the MAF and even the Lambda? Any way I can narrow it down a bit??
-
Only when I changed the ISV but I didn't look that closely but I have checked it's opening and closing in the test function using VCDS and I can hear in operating. There's no air leaks that I can see and I've sprayed the whole area in carb clearer and the engine note never changes so I can pretty much say that's not the issue.

Purely just idle, fine once warm after a couple of minutes..
-
Interesting.... I've picked up all new temp sensors today and I'll fit them tomorrow so I'll see what happens! What your saying about the lambda sensor is that only use a Bosch or OE VW one which make sense when it. plays such a vital role so I'll keep that in mind. I'm having my car Terra Cleaned on Saturday so hopefully this might freshen a few things up including the Lambda.. Hopefully!!

Leon, thanks for the time to explain all this, wheels and spacers really aren't my strongest subject!! Really useful advice, I've picked up some aluminium billet 15mm spacers and 43mm bolts locally and they fit great so thanks very much for the advice:thumbleft:
-
Could someone help me with spacer sizes for a set of 16" BBS alloys? They are 6 1/2 J x 16h2 ET42 5 x 100 I need an appropriate sized spacer for the fronts as without one the alloys strikes the calaper. What size wheel bolts will I need and where is the best place to source them?? Thanks for any help!!

Sean, go into engine then in the "advanced functions" box on the right hand side you will see "output tests" click this and you can scroll through the injectors, ICV, charcoal filter and a couple of others. When I tested the ICV I could hear it opening and closing
-
Thanks for the advice, I've ordered all new...
-
Thanks Buttles, I didn't know you could do that and I've just found out how to do it and I can hear it opening and closing which would suggest it's working Ok!! I've got a blue temp sensor on order to try as suggested, I'll let you know how I get on.
-
What do you mean by both were reading the same? Do you mean you had two blue sensors that we reading the same that were faulty so you changed it for a third one and it worked?
-
Let me know how you get on :thumbleft:
-
No but wouldn't this cause problems all the time??
-
I must have an older version of this then as the fob I've got has no battery's at all, you just slot it into a socket in the dash, a couple of seconds pass and the LED above stays lit indicating it's read the chip and you can then start it. How do the ones work that you have then? Push the button on the fob and it's like an alarm that sends a signal out?
-
Drives great once warm but saying that this is the only VR6 Corrado I've driven so I haven't got much to compare it against other than other vehicles but it doesn't miss and it certainly pulls your face off if you boot it!
-
I hear what your saying about the Terra clean and I'm not expecting it to be a magic cure but the car that I've got sat idle for 11 years until October so I'm hoping it will at least give it a good clean.
-
Sean, very similar fault.. Mines terrible when stone cold for about 2-3 minutes and as yours some times wants to cut out unless I keep it going by adding a bit of throttle. Once it's warm it does tick over as you say around the 650-750 mark and drives fine so it must be something pretty simple. As the guys have already suggested I'm going to get a new blue sensor and while I'm at it I'll change all the others just to count these out. It would be good to hear if you sort it..
-
Morning guys, right I've got it hooked up to Vag Com with the engine stone cold. I've gone into advanced measuring blocks and the coolant temperature is showing 10.5 degrees, which it is about that in here. Am I looking at the right thing? Throttle angle is 12.5 degrees.

Thanks guys, I,'m on it first thing in the morning. I'll let you know :thumbleft:

Funny that I hear that a lot about Corrado's, their just run in as others are being scrapped  -
I don't think you find any, why not do what I did. I got a nice black set with a good pile on and took it to our embroidery firm who makes our work shirts and he sawed "Corrado" on to it using the original one as a template. Cost me £25,00 and I had all 4 matts done! I'm a bit picky myself and to be honest their better than the original ones!!
