Well its been over a year since i was last on this forum... the old rado sold to a guy in ireland.... he seems happy with it. I haven't driving a car since then.... i now own a Kawasaki NINJA!!! and boy its fast... 0-60 in less than 5 seconds... top speed... DAMNED FAST... and standard lime green!!! am thinking bout getting back onto the rado scene and giving up the bike. Anybody know anyone who has a car for sale (doesn't have to be a rado) going cheap so that I have a run around while the bike sells and the money going into a rado??

.... between a mk2 golf gti 8v PAS rack and a corrado 16v PAS rack? If i got a 8v PAS rack, would it fit / work in a 16v rado?

..... my 'rado!!!!!! as the title says, i am so sick of my ****ing corrado!!!! every since i bought it i've had problems and im now blowing some steam off. it all started 3 months ago..... looking for a nice mk3 gti.... when I saw this. A red 1.8 16vavler. Looked good. Ran ok. and fell in love.... No problems for the first month or so. Then someone decided to put desiel in the tank. For three damn weeks I was under the impression the headgasket had gone. 3 weeks!!! took it down to my local garage. They told me there was desiel in the tank. AFter getting that sorted, i got the car back. It didnt run the same after but still ran. Was driving it hard all week on tesco's 99ron petrol. I was beginning to feel it was getting better. Then last weekend, the PAS went!! PAS fluid was flooding the steering column and leaking into the driver side footwell.... Took the PAS belt off and drove it home. Its been sitting in the garden for the past week. Also found that the wiring under the steering is damn messy.... been chopped and put back together. Everything works as it should be tho which is good. Took it to the garage again. they said the power steering rack had gone.... costing bout £400 to sort out! I AM SICK OF THIS CAR!!! IN THREE MONTHS ITS COST ME £1000+ just to keep it on the road! I'm planning to get rid of it and recoup as much £ as poss from it.... I know it wont be alot but right now its doing my head in I've seen another one. Well I've heard that a dude is selling one. Not got alot of details about it but I WANT A RADO! and now dont have much £ left. I'm not a mechanic and trying to memorise the buying guide on the wiki for when I go to look at the motor. And from the past faults of this one, keep my eye out for things.... GREEN FLUID in the PAS resevoir, the wiring hasnt been all chopped up. I know this car hasn't got MOT or TAX but i've been told it will fly through a MOT. The dude from the garage knows this dude selling the car and said its a good runner. He's gonna be coming with me to view the car tomorrow. I am now weary bout buying another becuase of the faults of this one. Is there anything I should look out for? I'm gonna try and get the dude to put an MOT on it... hopefully if not then i'l be back on here looking for an honest one. Another question, when looking for a rado, why are there so many red ones for sale (mines red). You'l see this car on autotrader soon..... or if anyone's got reasonable offers them pm me. I feel a little better now. Thanks for listening to me complain peeps...

looks like i wont be needing to go gym this week now...

also, will driving without the PAS belt cause any issues?? I drove it home from London yesterday and saw oil temps rise to 130...
-
after the england match yesterday.... i got in my car to go home. As i started to drive off, i heard some weird noise while turning... a sort of whine and I lost all power steering.... I turned round the corner and found some sort of liquid in the driver's footwell. I called the AA. The dude initially looked at the liquid and thought it was clutch fluid, because of its color. It wasnt red or green but clear. I looked in the PAS resevoir and it was empty. Coz of my level of AA cover I could only get it towed 10miles. So instead, I asked the dude to remove the PAS belt. Is this a MAJOR problem? I know without someone having a look its difficult to say. But has anyone seen or heard of someone with this problem??

my vavler runs hot too..... i'v flushed the coolant system and replaced the rad switch about a month ago. it doesnt turn the fan on anymore. What would cause the radiator switch to fail? I'm gonna be replacing that this weekend (again) My oil temps rose to 122 while sitting in traffic today, then back down to 110 on the dual carriage way. I think I have corradoparanoia thinking that 110 is to high but when reading on here people having running temps of 80-90..... i think to myself my readings cant be right. Im also gonna be replacing the expansion tank for another one because there might be a leak. I can see some sort of residue on one side of the tank and along the wall of the engine bay.

oh yeah the smoke smells of fuel

did the compression test. Here's the results Spark Plug Hole 1 - Went up to about 12.5 bar (12.8kg/cm2) Spark Plug Hole 2 - Went up to about 12.5 bar (12.8kg/cm2) Spark Plug Hole 3 - Went up slower to 10.5 bar (10.6kg/cm2) Spark Plug Hole 4 - Went up slower to 10.4 bar (10.5kg/cm2) When taking out the spark plugs, noticed that the ends of the plugs were really oily.

Does anyone know or live in the Slough area that could possibly help me out with diagnosing this problem? i.e. Does anyone know of a decent garage that will help me get the car on the road? I've found one place, they're called SWIFT AUTO SERVICES. They are mobile, for £40 they will come down and do a basic pre-op diagnosis on the car. How much am I lookin to spend for a head gasket replacement? Would it be worth getting the head rebuilt or reconditioned? If so where can I get one from? This car has been running ok for the past month. Now I'm beginning to wish I didnt buy the damn thing

do they tow cars?? mines now a none starter...

the coolant level is fine. i've been reading a few post about this and i think the head gasket is gone!!! i've only had this car a month. I woulda thought that if the head gasket was on its way out, the guys at vw who serviced the car woulda picked it up. it was only serviced a couple weeks ago

i tried getting into work this morning, car started up fine, got round the corner and then the engine started (it seemed to) choke. I was in second gear and the engine wouldnt rev. It died. Tried starting it again, the car started to start but then choked and died. Got home from work this afternoon, went to start it and it started. 15 seconds later the same thing happened. It choked and died. Tried it a couple more times same thing. Third time I tried it, I reved the engine to keep em up but it still died. I did notice that there was loads of smoke pouring outa the exhaust. A friend looked at the colour of the smoke and he said it was white. its seems like the fuel is being blocked somewhere, the choking part. pleaaasseee advise.... thanks

live in slough.... i've now realised i got more issues with the car then first thought. this afternoon while sitting outside my cousins house, i thought i heard tappets..... i am so not impressed with the power i'm getting. it takes me more than 15 seconds to get to 60. it feels really sluggish. i hope tuning will sort it out. im gonna be doing an oil flush next weekend. what difference would i see / notice if i change the spark plugs (3 headed) and the ht leads??

the first thing y'all prolly gonna say is "DO A SEARCH!!!!", well i have been looking and after two days, i have no answer. :( The question is.... where do i find the thermostat and temperature senders on a 1.8 16v corrado? Is there more than one temp sender?? My (water??) temp guage rises to just under 90 degrees when the engine is started from cold and after driving for a while, it sits at just under 110 degrees. My MFA (oil temp??) rises and most of the time sits at about 110, i've seen it go up to 114 - 116 sitting in traffic. I've seen it once at 120!!! I've replaced the radiator switch but it doesn't come on until the temp of the oil is about 106 degrees. I'v seen one on awesome-gti which I'm thinking about buying that claims to turn the fan on at a lower temp. One more thing, what are the part numbers for the thermostat and temp senders? thanks in advanced... p.s you can see from the attachments what im talking about. the one where the mfa reads --- is when i was about to start the car (all warning lights on) the other is when i got home from work 40mins later
-
i know this sounds stupid but how do i check to see if water is circulating round my radiator and where do i find my thermostat....
-
iv read a few posts about this, got very confused. i'd like to know if this could be a messed up temp sender or something. basically when i start the engine in the morning, my temp dial was reading just under 90 degrees. After about 5-10 mins of driving, this has risen to just under 110 degrees and stays there. The mfa reads between 100 and 112 degrees. Is this right?? I know its not. Today sitting in traffic, the temp on the mfa rose to 116 which i know isnt good. i did notice the otherday that the fan wasnt kicking in. i replaced the radiator switch and after about 106 degrees (reading from mfa)it kicked in. arent they suppose to kick in at like 95 or summin like that.... please help... thanks
