I had a friend come help me figure it out. You use the thermoswitch on the radiator that runs the fan control module, mine has 3 terminal stacked, I bridged two and the fan comes on. It's low amperage do i done need to use a relay for the switch.

By the way, I do have the Bentley manual, I just don't trust my ability to decipher electronic schematics very well. I've already managed to kill my temp gauge and cant fix it, and I'd like to avoid frying anything else.

I did a search for radiator fan switch, I'm looking to wire in a manual switch so I can turn the fan on high in traffic. I live in southern Idaho and we get temps in the high 100*F. My rout home is in a lot of stop and go traffic and I noticed last year my temps were a little higher than I like. The fan still comes on like it should, but I'd rather give the relay a break and just have it on for the times when I'm not moving. Has someone posted on this topic and I just couldn't find it? Thanks.

It was working before, but I accidentally hooked up the AC control plug and the engine temp plug backwards, after that the temp gauge refuse to work. The AC doesn't work at all in my car so I'm not worried about that.

Yeah I have 3, the blue 4-pin is the equivalent to the yellow one that you guys are talking about, the blue 2 pin is for the ECU because my car started acting funny when I unplugged it while it was running, and the air-con is the brown one. I had a friend come over and sit in the car while it was running and I unplugged the blue / yellow plug and grounded out the pins to see if the gauge would move and it didn't. So I'm thinking either the gauge is busted or there's something in the wiring gone bad.

The blue one with 4 pins.

The send unit to the temp gauge quit working, installed a new sensor, still doesn't register. I'm still trying to figure out if it's the gauge it's self or something in the wiring, I'm going to try grounding out the contacts and see if the gauge moves. But I need to be able to drive the car until I can figure out what the hell is going on. Is not having that sensor working going to cause the engine harm? The fan still comes on when I'm at a stop light. Also, how hot does the intake manifold usually get after driving, cars been in the garage with the hood open for an hour and it's still hot enough I can't leave my hand on it long.

I appreciate the help!

Thank you I will do that

I should have been more specific, original as possible in the way it looks, but not runs.

I have never herd of a stand alone, but now you have my interest. Where do I get one? I'm always willing to pay more for quality and reliability, grandad always said you get what you pay for.
-
Thank you for the link, I'm a first time owner and I'm trying to restore it as close to original as possible. I'm trying to find as many reliable sources as I can.

Sorry, that is kind of important. VR6.

My current wiring harness is starting to show it's age, wires are ststarting to corrode, and some are exposed. Is the harness off a Passat or golf compatible with the Corrado? I want to replace all the wires, radiator fan plug, engine grounding, ect. I want to wrap all of them and clean up my engine bay.

Going to paw through the Bentley and see what resistance the plug needs. You guys are lucky you don't have to deal with EGR, where I live they have very strick emission laws.
-
Well dang! Thank you.

I'm a noob to VR'S, I know this question has been asked a lot, and I'm sorry for asking it again, but I don't trust everything that I found. I have searched this form and the vortex, and found some useful information. But what I want to know is, does anybody have a link to a trusted DIY page for an EGR Delete? Something you yourself have tried. If nobody wants to reply to that, can you tell me what page I need to start looking at in the Bentley repair manual that I have? 92 SLC. Thank you in advance, you guys have been way nicer than the vortex.

Going to get rid of mine. New question, I've been having problems getting my fan to shut off, found a blown fuse on the fan control module replaced it but it didn't change the problem, I have a new radiator fan switch on order. The other day I thought I might have accidentally switched the plugs for the ac cutoff and the temp gauge sensor. Apparently I didn't, but when I switched them back now my temp gauge doesn't work. Is there a fuse somewhere, or did I fry the gauge?

So my axillary water pump isn't working, New one is on order. My question is this, if the pump isn't working could this be keeping my thermostat from opening? After I drove the car to work today I felt the radiator hoses, the upper was hot, but the bottom hose was cool to the touch. Any ideas? The water pump and thermostat are both brand new to.

Castrol Edge full synthetic 0W40, but I'm changing it to the standard oil 10W40. I ran Royal Purple 10W30 and spun a bearing on my first engine.

Just in time, I was going to go change my oil today. Back to the parts store I go.

I had to get a new thermostat housing, old one cracked, so while I was at it I got a new thermostat and sensors so everything was new. I buy all my parts new from a German supply store. The guy I get parts from is really good at cross checking if it's a different part number than OEM, but that's not to say it couldn't be wrong. I'll double check with the old sensors, great idea. Thank you.

So I replaced all 3 temp sensors on the thermostat manifold, installed a brand new thermostat. Now my fan comes on high speed and won't turn off. I thought that I had swapped the plugs for the AC cutoff and the cluster fan, thinking I had gotten them wrong because they are both the same fit "stupid", I didn't touch the temp sensor. Drove it for about 5 min and my water level light started blinking, fan wouldn't come on, and water temp gauge didn't move. So I swapped them back. Now the fan comes on high and stays on, but my water temp gauge won't move. Checked for lose fit plugs, corrosion, or lose wires and couldn't find anything. Do I need to go buy new sensors again? Or did I do some damage?

I hope I didn't get some bad info, but I read a thread on the vortex and everyone was saying 0W40 synthetic was the best.
