Drill a hole in your down pipe - for less BHP I don't understand? Good reply VR6 maybe he needs blue lights underneath it too!

You could always take out the cat and put a cat bypass in either that or change the induction either one will give you a more throtey exhaust sound. I actually did both and it still passed the MOT in the UK with a cat bypass on a VR6 you wont make it pop or bang because of the VAG
  5. I may be being really stupid but I haven't seen a mention of anyone replacing the sprockets when changing the timing chain. Everyone seems to do the tensioners and the chain but not the sprockets. Surely these ware as well?
  6. Hi all. About to undertake changing my timing chain and tensioners so been looking at the parts I need. I read this thread: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2020549 Which says there are two types of timing chain and to find out which one you have you just need to look at the engine number. The number they quote AAA 0217 000 with the difference occouring above or below this number. I had a look last night and my engine number is ABV 0007 369 which doesnt really fall into either catagory. Can anyone help?

    VR6 Brakes

Well where do I start. I recently upgraded the discs on my VR6 to Padgid and replaced the pads at the same time. While I was at it I thought I may as well change the brake hoses for Godridge ones which inevitably caused me to need to bleed the system. Incidently why do goodridge provide you with six hoses when there is only one on each brake? I only changed 4 at any rate. I bled the system firstly using one of those easy bleed kits in the order Back drivers, Back passangers, Front Drivers, Front Passangers. I must have bled each one at least 4 times, each time doing it till no air was left, then each time I re-bled them more air was present. I eventually gave up when I was getting no feeling in the brake pedal after bleed No 4. This weekend back out and bled them all over and over again till I was sure no air was left. There is more feeling in the brakes now so I took it for a quick run and almost immidiately the ABS light came on. I also managed to get one wheel to lock before giving up last night. I have read all the posts about brake bleeding and have followed all the advice. I honestly don't know where I am going wrong. Please help!!!! :(
  9. Has anyone heard anything good about the carbono Induction kits? Are there any better alternatives and if so where do I get em from?
  10. Had a look last night the offset is ET35 the tyres are 225/45/R17 and the wheels are 17/17.5. If I get a lower profile will they fit?
  11. The place I got the wheels from claim that 205's or 215's wont fit the rim. Not sure this is entirely true so I'm getting a mate to take the wheels to a local tire depot to see what they say. Does anyone know of any reason they wouldn't fit?
  12. Ahhhhhhhhhh that may well be it the tyres are 225/45/17 and so I assume will never fit no matter what I do.
  13. Sorry I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to this. Yeah its a VR6 and they are RS6 copies I got 5mm spacer on the front and 6mm on the back. I'm not sure if this is the same as the offset?!? and the people I bought the alloys off said they would fit. How can I look up the offset I need? THe car has not been lowered at all and it has standard mcpherson struts
  14. I bought the above and they arrived yesterday, I put them on the car only to notice that the brake calliper on the front was rubbing. quick trip to halfords and I bought 5mm wheel spacers which solved that problem. Next I noticed the back ones rubbing on the suspension strut (on the cup that holds the spring), another trip to halfords and I got some 6mm spacers. When car was on the jack both wheels turned freely, when on the ground one still rubs. As well as this the front appears to rub the plastic in the back of the wheel arch at the front of the car when going round corners.Has anyone else had problems fitting 17" wheels? Do I just need bigger spacers on the back? How do I solve the problem on the front? HELP!!!
