As much as i hate to admit it, we are missing a trick in the UK. The French would not have this and would organise mass protest against fuel duty rise, effectively paralysing their country in the space of a couple of days. We are weak as a nation and just take whatever the government sees fit to hand us. The usual Governmental excuses about National debt and trade deficits don't cut it either as a reason to hammer us for extortionate taxes. Do they really think that the general population of this country believe that a 2.5 % rise in VAT will make any in roads into the £4.3 TRILLION national debt? There are, in my humble opinion, other ways to make this country financially sound agian, but i am not the PM and therefore have no say in the matter, apart from polling day. Even at a General Election, what real choice do we have ? All politicians are the same and are only in it for their own gain (IMO), evidenced clearly by the expenses row and subsequent jailing of some of our so called leaders. We need politicians with balls who will not treat us as ignorant subservient idiots who are only good for taxing. If the lack of investment in this country is not addressed then how can we realistically expect to be back in the Black again....ever.....we owe a lot of money to a lot of of entities and taxing everyone to extinction in the UK is not the answer Everyone last one of the cretins in Westminster need to understand that they are there to carry out the will of the people, and not dictate their ideas of what is best.....referendum is not a dirty word! *Rant Over* Sorry everyone..... :|

Has anyone an idea what standard springs and shocks cost for a G60? I went to VW and asked but the parts guy said..."Corrado...never heard of that..are you sure it is a VW?!!!!!! :epicfail: " I told im i was sure and it is a 1990's coupe, to which he said "Oh you mean a Scirroco!!!!" :censored: At that point i walked out in disgust!!! :mad2:

I started and moved my G60 for the first time in 18 months on Sunday....Great!!

Aston Martin DB7 BMW M5 VW Karmann Ghia I could go on..and on....and on... :nono:

Don't know if this has been done before, but has anyone any idea how many of each type/colour Corrado there are left in the UK? Some of the colour/model combinations must be getting pretty rare nowadays.....are there any singletons?

Is it just me or are the 5th gear team really struggling for ideas to fill a very dull 1 hous worth of television? Who cares whether Plato can get out of a multi axis spin or not (he is a trained pilot by the way)? Who cares whether the fat bloke with the BIG hair can drive a Ferrari from Belgium to Italy, and whether he gets admiring glances from the German public?----for the car not him!! They really need to get their act together and inject some humour into the show and stop massaging each others ego's with daft attempts at trying to look interesting. Like i say...is it me or.........? :nono:

White smoke normally indicates water getting turned to steam somewhere along the line...ie cylinders or exhaust. If you are losing a lot of coolant then i would look at head gasket as a possible failure point....but without looking at it it is difficult to say. Not sure what the Comp figs are...i am sure someone on here with a bentley manual will be able to tell you.....

Could be a few things.... 1) The low cylinder is leaking air past the piston rings. You can check this by running the test again, only this time pour a LITTLE new engine oil into the cylinder through the spark plug hole...(no more than a teaspoon full as you risk hydrostatic lock and bent conrods etc). If the compression improves with the addition of the oil then your piston rings aren't sealing as well as they should be. 2) Your are losing compression through your inlet or exhaust valve on that cylinder. Can't really be checked, more of an instinct/experience thing. You can however take off the rocker cover and pour a little oil around the cam buckets on that cyliner, turn you're engine over and see if the oil bubbles....can get very messy very quickly...!! 3) Bad News.....You could have a crack in the cylinder wall of that low cylinder which means that you are losing some of the compression......until the piston rings have gone past the upper extremities of the crack(s) and are sealing as normal again. Can't tell if it is this really without engine strip. You may however get compression in your sump which will be evident in the crank case breather tube. 4) You have a cracked head and are losing pressure into one of many places eg exhaust port, coolant, oil system etc. Bad news! 5) You have a leaky head gasket, either straight from the cylinder to atmosphere, or into your coolant/oil system. You can sometimes work this out by a) never ending supply of air into your coolant; When engine is stationary coolant should leak into your cylider....Does your coolant smell like exhaust smoke or petrol? Are you losing coolant? Do you have mayo in your oil...a by product of the coolant dripping into the cylinder and running past the piston rings into the sump. b) Similar thing with oil...are you losing any etc......Do you have blue exhaust smoke? c) You can check the leak to atmosphere by squirting water mixed with washing up liquid around the the head gasket with engine running....Bubbles equals leak. However, not all doom and gloom, If your car is running fine then i wouldn't worry about it....just comp test it regularly and see if the values improve /get worse. One more point....get car up to running temperature then comp test it to see if you get more consistant results. Hope this helps........ :thumbleft:

Yeah. They look in good nick, can easily be repainted if required tho' I am gonna take the tyres off them and put them on my current wheels 'n' sell the current ones to recoup some of the money......
-
I think my sump has gone porous.....oil seems to be seeping out of it all over....not a great deal of oil but another messy job to get cracked.......

Just bought a set of 5 Sebrings with good tyres for £69...i thought that was a bit of a bargain......? With Centre caps!!!

they are a bitch...i had the same problem on an Audi A4, had to replace them in the end. Time wasn't the pressing factor then though, and it wasn't my money i was spending on a pair of new calipers!!!!
