I hope it wasn't to drown your sorrows... I've got a 2.0 16v too, and often get told 'ah you bought the wrong one, should have had a VR6!' I've very quickly developed the love/hate relationship with it, and although it was bought as a rolling project to improve it and return it to near standard, it does get frustrating that for every one job that needs doing, there's at least three more lurking behind it...

M12x1 to M10x1 reducer fitted - all sorted :) I've replaced a few brake pipes for the upcoming MOT, whilst bleeding the rears I found brake pipes on top of the axle had been crushed by the body where it was set so low on the coilovers. I raised it shortly after buying, t'was tooooo low....

Late Mulberry (?) parked near M1 bridge in Trowell, Nottingham late morning today....very tidy :)

Thanks :) I think I've found an adaptor to reduce from 12 to 10mm, will update when I've fitted it, fingers crossed.... Sent from my ZTE BLADE A512 using Tapatalk

I've changed a couple of brake lines today, however the fitting/union on the ABS pump for the rear left is larger than the other three outlets - 12mm as opposed to 10mm. The others have all previously had the original lines replaced. I found a photo of a pump on another forum, but it also looks like mine, with the rear left union being a larger diameter. Can anyone advise whether this normal, or that all the original lines had 12mm fittings. And, if possible - where can I get a union from to convert it to accept the 10mm brake pipe fitting?

Thanks all :) My wife drives a '90 Mk2 GTI so I can borrow the switch to check. I've looked at the headlight switch wiring before because of the issue with Corrado switches and recall that it was in good condition. Looks like I'll be dropping the fusebox down to investigate further.

Many thanks, I'll have to do a few more checks then. When I bought it, the stereo wiring was melted, speaker wiring mostly hacked about and missing, and the alarm wiring was shocking (no pun intended), I've since removed the old alarm.

Out of curiosity, does anyone else have a Mk2 Golf headlight switch fitted with the following issues? - Number plate light comes on with the ignition - With ignition off, headlight switch on (dipped) - interior fan operates until lights are switched off I've not yet compared the wiring diagrams to confirm that the switch is the cause, it's not a problem, just a bit weird. I will replace the Mk2 switch soon with the LED illuminated Corrado one, just curious....

Does anyone have 1 sidelight bulb holder going spare?

The plug on the right looks to be the glovebox light wiring, the one on the left looks to be the speaker wiring, maybe dashboard tweeter. Sent from my ZTE BLADE A512 using Tapatalk

Back in Nottingham, yesterday I caught a glimpse of a dark metallic blue one parked outside the Blackburn Starling building. Sent from my ZTE BLADE A512 using Tapatalk

Just spotted this, thanks for the update John, I'm hoping to change my suspension in the coming weeks so will start looking at these.

Check if they're the same length as the originals, if they're longer, that could be the issue. As the rad heats up and expands, something has to give. Sent from my ZTE BLADE A512 using Tapatalk

Sometimes if the mounting rubbers are missing or the mounts are overtightened, it can crack the rad. Sent from my ZTE BLADE A512 using Tapatalk

Cheers, funnily enough I was thinking about Azev A's earlier, a great wheel. I like the look but I wouldn't go for staggered with stretched tyres again though.

Thanks VEEDUBBED :) The main plans are to change the Borbets and go back to BBS RZ's or possibly Sebring's. The cheap coilovers need to go, as now I've raised it, it bottoms out easily and isn't a particularly comfortable ride. It has a badly made Powerflow exhaust which doesn't sound good either, so that will make way for a Jetex system. Otherwise it just needs TLC to improve its condition, replacing broken interior trim and improving the bodywork etc. :)

Hi all, I've recently joined following the purchase of the 16v. I've always had VW's (air and water cooled) and Audi's, and due to a change in circumstances I found myself in a position to buy something older again, but unfortunately not with a big budget, which is fine as it was planned to be a long term rolling project. I was looking at having another Golf Mk2 GTI, but as my wife has one I thought I should have something else. I had a an '88 Scirocco GTX a few years ago and really miss it so was set on having another one, but having always loved but never owned a Corrado, they kept popping into my mind. So this one came up not far from me, and as much as Corrado's look great in dark metallics, the silver got me hooked. I normally don't buy modified cars, so against my better judgement I went for it. It certainly ticks all the boxes for a project - I think I must have felt sorry for it and wanted to rescue it. Anyway, enough waffle, the plan is to return it to pretty much standard. When I first got it home, next to my wife's GTI, the Corrado was far to low, so I've raised it a bit. Cheers, Mark.

I'm interested too, I recently bought a '93 16v which is running budget coilovers and was scraping its belly. I've raised it up to make it easier to live with, but now with very little travel left on the struts, it can bottom out on some bumps. So I'm also looking to a near original set up.

I'm not sure on the physical differences between G60 and 16V (manifolds are different part numbers too), but Jetex supply downpipe for the 2.0 16v: http://www.jetex.co.uk/direct-fit-standard-catalysts/VOLKSWAGEN/CORRADO/ It can be found on ebay too.
