  1. Not too bad then. bit of a pain this time of year though! Thanks again guys, legendary as always!
  2. Don't have air con, but i think you might be right. There's the tensioner at the top, then 2 smaller wheels then this wheel I'm on about. Any idea what sort of work i'm in for if it is on its way out?
  3. what is the name of the wheel i'm waffling on about, what does it do?
  4. A ha the old trusty lubrication. Will try! If not, is it bearing replacement time in your opinion?
  5. Sorry, diagram was rubbish so left it out. If you look at engine from the side, its the larger one toward the cabin, that the back of the belt runs on.
  6. Hi there, Need a quick answer I'm afraid. K reg VR6 Have a squeaking i can here from engine bay, coming from the tensioner belt area. Disappears when no accelerator applied. Believe it is from the larger wheel closest to rear of engine bay that the back of the belt goes over. If my eyes are not decieving me, looks as if it isn't running straight and true, possible wobble. Had a search on the forum but am a bit unsure of exactly what the wheel is and whether its an emergency or whatever. Heard talk of pumps etc. Just abit unsure. Diagram included on the text document, its the lowest of the wheels on the diagram, if that helps. Thanks to anyone who can help. J
  7. Hi Joniboy Congrats on a wise purchase, I bought my VR6 back in June this year, same colour as well, plus my name's Jon! Great minds think alike! What ever anyone says about the probs with corrados, don't worry they are more than worth it! J

    Pathetic lighting

Where do you look for best quality looms? J
  9. Am a 25 year old whipper snapper. History 17-20 Mk1 Golf 1.1 C 20-22 Mk2 Golf 1600 Driver 22-24 Renault Laguna RXE (Had a gay computer voice telling me when the door was a jar! Had to go) 24-25 Nissan 200sx S14 25+ Corrado VR6 (at last the car I'd wanted since I first started buying VW magazine!!!!! Realise thats not quite as impressive as some lists on here but hey, I will look after it, promise, scouts honour.
  10. My tuppence worth - Had the Bosch, they looked cheap and nasty and althouth slightly better, still didn't clear windscreen that well. The lupo wipers were and are ACE - they look excellent, they clear the screen better than any other car i have owned at any speed , leave no streaks at all and if you befriend your local dealer he might give you a discount bringing them down to just over £30 (like one i went to) £30 for all that, what are you waiting for - when parts for your C end up being so expensive sometimes, you can't begrudge a 3 tenners worth! J 8)
  11. Why oh why did i buy my VR6, Why didn't someone tell me shopping trolleys were so fast

    1.8T vs VR6

Sorry to interrupt, Workmate and i swapped car for the 25 miles home (he has 1.8T (180) mk IVgolf, I have the Vr6 rado). After the beautiful Vr6 noise, I had to open the window to check his engine was still actually there with me foot down. Just gotta say, drivin the Gti (although refined (rar rar)) was total w**k compared to the corrado, no feel, no class, no ROOOOARRRRR! Plus the gear shift was shocking, felt like i was beating the car with a stick! J
  13. Hi guys, Can anyone email the template, just want to check against my own hamfisted drawing! mailto:[email protected] Am a teacher, planning an extra curricular session in the metal work room. Hey maybe I could get the kids to make em and then sell them on! J
  14. Reason i ask about blue red is that i had similar white on last car, my old 200sx and it got a bit tiring on the eyes after a while at night, plus blue red matches perfect with Blaupunkt kit i use.
  15. Sorry for adding a dumb question, please excuse, just need to clarify for my brain. Found the thread by lookin up indiglo, will these final ones actually be blue at night like the Golf MkIV's, or come up white as shown in pics.(sorry for being so dense!)Really after the blue/red glow look of my bro's 1.8T! Cheers guys!
  16. All sorted now, was the gearbox engine mount. Had gone completely!! engine lifted right off the mounting point!! BIG BIG thanks to Advanced Auto Repair (VAG specialists) in Christchurch, managed to squeeze it in this afternoon, even with a full booking fior the next week!! J
  17. Whoah, thanks for the warning guys, might have to check the bonnet tonight if I actually want to be able to sleep! Take it this is a fairly common problem/noise then (mind you the car is on 116k so thats not a bad run!). J
  18. Alright there, Joined forum when got the Corrado a couple of months back, seen a couple of C's round Bournemouth but only just found this thread. Live Tuckton end of Southbourne, drivin a K reg green VR6. Rad to know there are some drivers with taste in this town! J
  19. Wow, quick reply dude! That would probably make sense, its a powerful engine, and its at low speeds where the torque would be trying to shift the engine most. Got an idea on how much that'll cost me on a VR6? am used to mk2 golf prices so am sitting down, nice and calm! J
  20. Aaaargh, was just saying yesterday how the rado has been my most trouble free car so far!!!  Need help identifying a problem that started tonight. Get a big thunk/clunk noise when changing gear and drop the clutch BUT only in certain circumstances, have managed it mostly when getting second(but also with 1st and 3rd once or twice) with about 2/3000 revs and only on certain bits of road am thinking it must be when steering is in a certain place maybe!???!??? To make it clearer, on a 30 min journey round town, changing gears all over the place, i got it to do it about 10 times :?: This is really bugging me! It def isn't a grind, it really is a CLUNK, I can get it to do it but only when the cirecumstances are just right. There doesn't seem to be any noise when turning, ie CV joints, but i reckon it must be something in the transmission. :?: Was in a car park and mate was talkin to my dad on the phone, and when i was testin it, DAD heard it on the phone!! very worrying if its that loud! Also might be imagining it but there seems to be a force on steering when changing gear with revs (if it clunks or not) but i may have imagined it after being paranoid my wheels were about to fall off! :? I realise I have just written equivalent of a short novel but its difficult to describe, :?: :!: :x Really hope someone can help, cheers :) Jon
  21. Too right mate, it wasn't meant to be a cheap runabout! Oil temps aren't all that high, i know two mates with Mk4 1.8T 's and they regularly go higher than my VR6, and they haven't hit 50k yet! (plus both mates want my C off me as i keep roasting them on the way to work :D :D !!!) Plus my dads 4 year old audi quattro has had more electric faults than my C(but his sunroof still works though ). If you want a solid vehicle that doesn't rattle with no electric faults, i have a very smooth skateboard you might be interested in. (Sorry, in sarcasm mode today) J
  22. Thanks for the help mate, and quick reply. will get down to work when the kits arrive! Metaphysical, psychic cup of tea has been sent :D J
  23. Cheers mate, so does the repair kit from VW have all the parts needed? (don't want moonroof mod) Will try to get tilted down, saw a thread about guiding it down with a screwdriver!?! Will give it a go and wait for a better time to replace the broken bits.poo. J
  24. Ah, there has been a development. Sunroof doesn't slide. And when tried to tilt, both sides went up, only RHD side came down. AAAAHHHHHH!FRUSTRATING! Is this the problem everyone was referring to? How much work? Do i need parts seeing as its sunday tomorrow!! Thanks dude, any advice greatly recieved , possible rain here tomorrow!(bl**dy well would be wouldn't there!) J
  25. Hopefully quick and easy -  Sorry to start another thread on this!!  1. Sunroof no work. No motor/relay noise, not a peep. :!: 2. Can tilt manually using key without much problem. 8) Questions - Is there a particular fuse or relay to check, can't find the badger on fuse diagram i have. :? Is a light meant to illuminate the switch (someone mentioned this on another post) if so main interior light works but no switch light. :? :? If its not a fuse, is this where i have to go pick up a new motor off ebay? Thanks guys :) J
