Who did your wiring?
-
It does say it goes up positive connection 1 (15), in interior wiring harness. But I have no idea where and what this is
-
I've already been through rubjonny's repository and I've basically now realised whoever has done the loom has put the 12v feed absolutely anywhere and I don't think I'll find it. Regardless I'm not getting 12v. I'll check my fuses and then I'll run a new 12v. Any recommendations on the best place for ignition live? The closer to the gearbox the better I guess
-
G1/4 is wired to the clutch switch which I don't even have. I've figured out it's wired for a mk4 so it goes from pin 1 on the vss BLK/WHT to t14a/2 BLK/GRN and then from there I can't find a diagram to help me locate. All I've got is it goes to b163?
-
I'll check G1/4 then thanks. It's a white/black wire from the connector so does it go to ECU and then to fusebox as a solid black? I hate auto electronics
-
Can anyone help me with this? I've narrowed it down to the VSS plug not giving me 12v ignition live. 5v signal works and ground has continuity. Does anyone know where the 12v comes from (G22)?
-
Well I don't know exactly where the other end of the wire goes to, ECU? In which case there's no way it's not plugged in. And I'm under the impression the ABS wheel sensor is irrelevant? The ECU gets its speed from the gearbox right?
-
Hi guys my speedo isn't working on my 1.8t AGU. The car was a 9a before with electronic speed sensor not the cable type. I've plugged in the gearbox connector and tried 2 different sensors and still nothing. Am I missing something? I've got code P0501/16885 and did have 00515 camshaft sensor but that has cleared and not come back.
-
Managed to sort it. Swapped the clutch over to a new one and it works. I've got a feeling it might of been the retaining clip as I didn't realise you're supposed to but the bottom bit on the fork as well as through the hole!
-
No problems with the flywheel then and I've got g60 flywheel bolts. I got it from eBay (I know I know) last year when I didn't know much about clutches.
-
Is a 9a flywheel the same as g60?
-
Swap my 02j for my old 02a and if that don't work buy a new clutch for a laugh. If that don't work set fire to my car and claim on insurance
-
You say that but I can drive up and down the drive on the clutch in gear. Got an 02j box, both 02a and j towers, 16v 9a flywheel, vr6 clutch, mk2g60 slave and braided clutch line direct between cylinders. I had the box off today and there's nothing out of place at all
-
yeah I've checked and it's straight! Has anyone had a gearbox that won't select gears? wondering if the syncro's are gone
-
My hydraulics have been proved to be fine. I've bypassed the hydraulics with a threaded bar to push the clutch fork in.
-
Still in desperate need of help, PLEASE! I've bled with a vac bleeder, nothing. Fabricated a bit of threaded rod as a manual slave cylinder to ensure the fork moves over: nothing. Took the box off and everything works completely fine, no issues that I can see. Friction plate is the correct way round. I'm going to swap the gearbox and then the clutch. Failing that i'm gonna set it on fire and claim off the insurance. Is there a way to check if the gearbox is broke i.e failed syncro's? I can change gear with the wheels off the ground.
-
Okay as an update: I've poked an endoscope in the inspection hole and everything looks okay (although it's too dark to see the TOB touch the PP). I've raised the wheels off the ground and put my clutch pedal in whist in gear and my wheels rotate slowly. I'm gonna order a vacuum bleeder and try that.
-
It's not the firmest and takes just under a second to pop back when released. I can't remember how it felt before. No gearbox repairs done as far as I know. And no I'm using my 16v flywheel with the vr6 clutch kit. Flywheel worked fine before.
-
I'm completely at a loss without taking the box out. Just ordered an endoscope off eBay for pennies so I'll poke it inside and see if anythings out of place. Could a master cylinder cause this by the way? I've heard that when you drain the master sometimes the seals perish? I'm thinking my pedal would go floppy though.
-
Yeah rado that's what I'm thinking too? I don't know why I swapped to the 02a tower but I've tried an 02j tower too with the same results. I'm gonna try and get a cheap tiny camera to see if I can see what it is and maybe make a longer push rod for my other slave cylinder.
-
Yeah I renewed it. The only thing I didn't change was the clutch fork but I remember inspecting it. Do you remember being able to start it in gear without it jumping forward? Because that's the weird quirk I'm getting
-
I'd appreciate that a lot mate would put my mind at rest if it's impossible to put it the wrong way round! The only thing left is maybe the throwout bearing isn't working? This is driving me bonkers
-
I would of thought that the pp wouldn't even bolt up if it was the wrong way but I could be wrong. Would it make horrible noises if it was and could I start in gear and roll? The clutch is Sachs and I think I went by a picture on Google instead of looking for any inscriptions. Surely selecting the gears in the box would be the same as using the tower? I've tried an 02a and j tower so I think the tower is okay. I appreciate your suggestions so far 👍👍👍

Haven't* not recently
-
I fitted the clutch. I recently resolved any issue to be honest I've just found out about the inspection holes and ruled it out. No haven't got it in reverse but it's slightly easier to get to grind.
