  1. Thanks! He’s always happy to have any excuse to buy tools that “that might come in handy” 😂
  2. Any idea where to get an appropriate crimp clip from Matt? The other half has had a look and can do the job but doesn’t have anything to replace the clip with. Thanks!
  3. Blimey I didn’t even know they were still going! I bought a Golf GTi 16V from them about 35 years ago!
  4. TSR? Do you mean Tim Styles Racing in Bridgwater (or were last time I checked years ago) or someone else?
  5. That's brilliant, thank you so much!
  6. I'ved just ordered the FPR, my other half can manage that job. If that doesn't sort it, I'll take it to Vince rather than trying a million things on the off chance they're right!
  7. Aha! Thank you! That sounds like a really good start. I've been convinced that it's a fuel issue for ages. Thanks so much for your advice. I'll go with this first and take it to Vince if I get stuck.
  8. Thank you! My other half (ex mechanic) is going to look for anything obvious but as there's no real hurry, I think you're right in taking it to someone who really knows their stuff!
  9. Thanks Matt, that's brilliant advice. As I've just posted above, it only stalls when hot if I'm restarting after say an hour AND weirdly on hard lock in reverse. The "miss" isn't really a misfire - more of a hesitation when accelerating (when driven sensibly only. Fine if I thrash it!)
  10. Thanks everyone, that's given me lots of suggestions! The car doesn't "miss" most of the time though, it's more of a hesitation when accelerating if driven sensibly (fine if I rant it)! I think the stalling when hot is probably the fuel pump as Cressa suggested
  11. Thanks Matt that's really helpful and if I get really stuck I'll head there. I was hoping to find someone a bit nearer (they're 2 hours away from us) as I've got back issues so struggle to sit in the car (any car!) for more than an hour!
  12. Thank you! I just need to find someone in the Bristol area that I can trust with it (and not to rip me off!) Not sure it's this as it idles fine. It just hesitates and misses a bit when accelerating. I guess this could also be the fuel pump as Cressa mentioned re the stalling/not starting?
  13. Anyone in the Bristol area who can recommend a good specialist to look after my VR6? Recently moved from London and have a couple of issues with my car and don't know who to trust with it!
  14. Thank you! The fuel pump sounds like a good clue to the starting issue. It’s 30 years old and never had it touched as far as i can see from the history (thankfully i have everything from day 1 onwards!) The occasional hesitation is more of a mystery i think though odd that its got much worse with new leads and plugs
  15. Hi all, after a bit of advice if anyone else has come across this. My VR6 has always had a very occasional misfire/slight hesitation at low revs (no problem if you drive it hard!). I did wonder whether it was just because I'd had an 8v for years and years which would pull away in top gear and the VR6 just needed driving harder but I've just had a big service including plugs and leads and it seems much worse. Any ideas/advice about this? My other issue (which may or may not be connected) is that it's sometimes a pain in the arse at stalling. This seems especially problematic if it's a bit hot, reversing on hard lock or sometimes just because it feels like it. It just won't rev and will take 3 or 4 restarts before it'll go. Again this seems to be getting worse. I'm near Bristol if anyone knows of anyone good to sort it out? Thanks so much for any suggestions/advice!
  16. I don’t I’m afraid unless I try to crawl underneath! I’m really pleased with it though as it still sounds original and if anything, goes better than ever!
  17. Just coming back to say that (on a friend’s recommendation) I went to Infinity Exhausts near Bristol. They make you a custom stainless steel exhaust. In my case I just asked for as close as possible to original. At £450 fitted, I thought it was a bargain and would really recommend them to anyone in the South West. https://www.infinity-exhausts.co.uk
  18. Thanks Matt, I’ll go down the same route as you as I definitely don’t want the non-res option.
  19. Thanks all very much for your help. I think I’ll go for the popular and not too expensive Mitek as the local mechanic gives it the nod of approval too!
  20. Thanks Matt. Is it correct that the same Jetex system fits all Corrado models? My husband seems to think that my VR6 would need a different one to an 8v for example.
  21. Hi all, I hope I'm doing the right thing in the right place by starting a new topic! I'm just having my 1995 VR6 undersealed/dinitrol treated and they've picked up (which should have been noted on the MOT but wasn't!) that the exhaust system is very rusty and definitely on it's last legs. Can someone point me in the right direction of getting a good (as standard as possible - no big boy exhausts for me!) system? I found this https://www.heritagepartscentre.com/uk/wc253j26h7tr-jetex-stainless-steel-exhaust-system-non-resonated.html but it says it fits all Corrados. Is that really correct that the same exhaust fits all models? Sorry if I seem a bit dim! Or is there something better I can buy for it? I'm keen to keep it as original as possible. I’m near Bristol but happy to travel within an hour or so if needed.
  22. Thanks again! Will try A/C engineering in Chertsey as they came up in a search from above and I’m in London (albeit the other side). I know it won’t be cheap but I’m planning on keeping the car indefinitely so might be worth the investment.
