  1. Hi All - I am a new member from Colorado. Nice to meet you all. Was big into watercooled vw's almost 30 years ago - a Corrado was *almost* my first brand new car when I finished up undergrad in 1990-91. Could afford the car - couldn't afford the insurance! Milked my MK2 GTI for a few more years, then went a different direction. My very first car was a 1977 GTI. I bought it in 1984, and was bummed, as it did not look as cool/modern as the US version (in my opinion - I thought the round headlights looked old.... ha). When I finally learned what I had and how rare it was in the US, I was all in. Every extra cent I had went into that car. It had a Techtonics 2020, and a killer full Koni suspension. Autocrossed and Street solo'd that car until 1989 when it was wrecked. The carcass (with my name and blood type still painted on the door) sat in a Durango Colorado junk yard for 15+ years. I replaced it with the MK2. I am an avid collector - been doing so for the past 25 years. Appearantly (I really don't recall doing so)over the past few years when I come across VW's from that era, I have made the comment that it would be fun to restore one. My wife and brother picked up on this, and bought me a MK1 rabbit with a 2.0 16v 9a motor for my upcoming 50th b-day! (yes, my wife is super cool.....) Being that I have not worked on a water cooled VW in so long, my memory has definitely faded when it comes to the details. Even though it is a MK1 body, I figured I would become a member here due the Corrado guys perhaps having the most experience with the 9A motor. As I dust the cobwebs off my brain, I hope I can contribute to the cause. I am good with a wrench, and do all my own restoration and maintenance on my collection - less final paint. That is an art that I have not been able to get up to par on... Here is a pic of my original 77 and my "new" 1980. Yes, I put the US GTI spoiler on the 77 - it was just part of the fashion of those days! So, question number one: I have been really struggling to locate a set of good used or new fuel injection lines (from the distribution block to the injectors). Mine a bent to hell and I am concerned they may break or kink if I attempt to correct the issue. I am concerned that if I need to get the alternator out I may have an issue. Would like to do all 7 lines. Thanks a millon for any help/direction. Nice to meet you all - Scott S
