  1. OK the car has been worked on my the local volks garage who love " Frankenteiner " to bits, i say that 'Volk City' garage in Plymouth is a great place to take your car, the man there is genuine and will only do work to the car if it needs it, he was sorry to see her go but my word he has done a good job, all the electrics and wiring that were lose and looking bad are now all put back and repaired where needed, he replaced the distributor and repared all the wiring, the injection pipes and jets were all replaced and plugs, air filter, oil switches, filter, ht leads, man I could go on and on but I wont  Anyway you were right Henny she is a 1.8i 16v on a 2.0i plate so that is all being taken care of with a change on the log book and a bit cheaper insurance so all is good, Now she goes very fast indeed  :!: Work this out OK, I paid £1,200.00 for her the work cost £540.00 so intotal then £1,740.00 for a Jreg 1.8i 16v dohc with 118,000 miles. A bargain or what? Peace, Out Justin 8) *mod edit - Decapped post for you, please turn off your caps lock in future... - Henny*
  2. cheers henny i'll keep you posted, im off to work cheers Justin and as you christened her "Frankenstien" i like it and i'm calling her that
  3. its ok i just rang them and they are busy at the mo but i will be calling them back later, i hace the sticker as some one has taken it off the boot and i found it in the glove box and it does say KR so i think the car has always been a 1.8 its just that i was sold it as a 2.0 so i'm a little vexed about all this, but dont worry i will keep digging and soon i will be able to tell you about frankensteins history
  4. ok here's the problm then, the engine syas kr so you think its a 1.8 the sliders in the dash board for the heating tell you that its a 1.8 but the problem is that the registration says that it's a 2.0. i had a hpi come with it as i bought the car from saltash auctions for only £1,200, i have also put the reg in a data base on-line and it says that it's a 2.0 so if the card says it's a 1.8 and the reg says its a 2.0 has someone changed the plates, and i looked for the vin number ans its not there, where should i look for it because its not stamped where i thought it would be under the bonnet just under the windscreen>???
  5. ok i think there maybe some thing wrong here, i may have bought i shagged up car, ok i dont know what info im alowed to give so if you could remove this reply if there is too much... ENGINE No KR 162329 CHASSIS No wvwzzz50zmk013325 what do you recon, polease tell em i have'nt bought a RINGA please god NO
  6. im haveing it Fully serviced and tuned by a Garage called VOLK CITY down in plymouth on Thursday 1st July, i asked them if they could make sure it is a 2.0l. coz i have a sneaking suspision that it may not be. also i look at all you piccy's of your engines and they all look wicked and clean and not a pipe or wire out of place, and when i look at mine it looks like a mad womans shit. i've also contacted some one from the forum who lives near me 'MADUB' who is coming to look over the car, he has done alot of upgrades to his car so hopefully he should know what i need to do with it. :D
  7. ha ha i swear it is, it's on the documents unless someone has taken that one out and put a 1.8L in, i'm having it serviced and tuned soon so i'll keep you posted....lol
  8. but mines a 2.0L 16v is it still cool :D
  9. I've just bought my first corrado J reg 2.0L 16v, and am very proud of it, i am haveing problmes with it and will be putting it in for a Full service and tune shortly, but i just wanted some of you experts out there to tell me what you think of the piccys im going to attach, as pipes on the engine look out of place, the wiring is not tidy and it looks like the loom has been ripped out and stuffed back in, the wiring behind the battery is all over the place, i'll try and put as many attachment as i can on so you can have a real good look. cheers Justin
  10. didn't think you were, i've been reading all the responses and many people think i know what i'm doing...lol  i just need some one who has done they're car up and that won't mind spending a bit of time showing a total newbie the ropes. shame your so far away i could do with a resident expert
  11. hi guys it's Justin again. look i'm a total newbie, i have just got my first Corrado. remeber the day when you first got your?? the thing is that i don't have any tchincal knowledge at all about this car and have no idea what to do so if any of you live near Plymouth could you mail me and meet me and the car to have a look at it and tell me where to start. and maybe after a while i will have the experience and knowledge you all take for granted. your newbie JUSTIN :)
  12. thanks Phil i really appreciate the advice, i just wanted to make sure that i hadn't bought a dog that won't run, i'll be posting some piccys of the state of the engine on the forum soon so you guys can have a look at the state of it and give me some more ideas about what to do. :D
  13. Cheer mate will check them out tomow :D
  14. is there any VW specialists in the PLYMOUTH, UK area Devon , Cornwall you would suggest to look at and tune my Corrado 2.0L 16v. anyone but Renwicks ( they're toss)
  15. ITS A BIT OF AN OLD CAR AS IT HAS DONE 118,000 MILES, BUT I STILL EXPECTED A BIT MORE, the loom also seems to have been ripped out ans put back wrong, i think i need some bloody good advice, from as you said a good specialist, the only prob though is that im a little short on the funds so any idea about cutting cost, coz my dealer down here in plymouth was talking like £2 - £3,000 for just to service and a new loom and a small engine rebuild, i am serious i want my machine to come back to life, but not to kill me in the process
