    ISV Cleaning

Thanks for that. Sounds like people on the forum have also had some success by cleaning the MAF, so I'll be spraying electrical contact cleaner on the MAF if I don't cure the issue with the ISV work.

    ISV Cleaning

My VR6 has a lumpy idle and random flat spots at low revs, especially when cold. I've got a long list of culprits but thought I'd start with cleaning the ISV. Having got under the bonnet I see the hose clamps are what look like single use Oetiker ones. Any idea how to get them off and is there any problem replacing them with screw type jubilee clips?
  3. There's definitely pressure in the rail because I had to replace the supply pipe to the rail as the joint had perished. Oil pressure relief valve has been replaced and the engine cranks over at normal speed during starting. Lots of good suggestions coming from the forum. I think the first priority has to be the integrity of the injectors. Thanks for the help.
  4. The spark plugs were changed last month when Steve gave the car a good service and going over. It's running a lot better but I'm still concerned about the starting which isn't improving. Having said that, I've only done 700 miles or so in the month since I've had it back from the workshop. Before that the previous owner had kept it largely SORN. Having checked through the MOT/service history I know it's only done 1000 miles in the last 12 years. Maybe the best thing to do is keep filling with V-Power for a couple of tanks and see if there's any difference. Any thoughts on whether putting another dose of injector cleaner in the fuel tank will help?
  5. Thanks for the info gents. I haven't changed the blue temp sensor so I'll look into that. Mr Injector sounds like the way to go, had no idea that sort of service was available.
  6. As a non-mechanic I was wondering how easy it is to remove and clean the injectors on my VR6? Are there any special tools required? Any particular products? The car has been into Steve at C&R Enterprises after 12 years of very little use. He's done an amazing job on it but it's not quite running as it should yet. It takes a lot of turning over before it starts and is pretty smoky for a minute or so. It also runs rough whilst cold. It's fine once things have warmed up. Rather than constantly paying for work I wondered if there were any things I could do myself. I've run some good quality injector cleaner through a tank of fuel, but I think the injectors are probably still dribbling and causing the cold start problem. Thanks.
  7. Plenty of Gamma 4s on German ebay but all the cassette version. Can't see any like fendervg's single cd model. Don't really want the hassle of a changer in the boot so I'll keep looking.
  8. Of course sound is important, but I'm very keen to keep the car as original as possible. If the Gammas are better and easier to get hold of it seems my choice might be made.
  9. Thanks. The Sonys are so rare I might end up going for a Gamma, it does look really good.
  10. I'm looking for an original Sony radio/cd for my '94 VR6. I realise there were several different models but I'm not fussed which. From reading previous threads it seems that they are hard to find so I'd even consider a Gamma 4 which I understand was fitted to some German Corrados.
  11. Thanks Cressa, I've had a good look around the forum and I'm impressed at how much work people do themselves. I thought about checking the thermostat on my car but frightened myself to death when I discovered how much dismantling was involved! Lots to learn but I'll enjoy the journey.
  12. Hello All, I owned a couple of Corrados in the 90s and have pretty much yearned for another ever since. I've just bought a 1994 VR6. I want to keep it totally standard. It's only covered 1000 miles in the past 12 years so isn't running as it should. It's booked in to see Steve at C&R Enterprises for a health check. Fingers crossed...
