7.30 at the Quay on Wed 24th is fine by me.

Can I tag along too? Midweek is usually better for me, plus my car looks better in the dark! Any thoughts about a location? : WOSVWC use the Quay (under the Kingston Bridge, opposite Harry Ramsdens) and ClubGTI use the Days Inn @ the Gorbals if looking for ideas.

I thought Action was one of the best events of the year... Really good mix of air & water cooled and the quality of the show cars was immense. Interesting to see the hot-rod trends in the air cooled brigade, lots of candy paint, ghost flames and scrolling. Never seen so many polished Porsche rims in one place! The workmanship and details on the matt-black race Beetle were unbelievable...plenty ideas could be carried into a C! Lots of traders, a funfair, beer tent etc Well worth considering for next year. You can also make one from copper pipe but it helps to have seen a real one first to get the idea! Hardly worth bothering if you can wait to buy one for only £12

With the spoiler raised you will see the allen bolt heads on the spoiler pillars. 6mm I think. Also check the little rubber pad has not come detatched from under the outer ends. HTH

No point adding bling to a dirty engine, so get the thing properly clean first! That alone will make a big difference. VRs always look great with polished intake manifolds. Cheap and not difficult to do yourself, just time consuming and a bit messy. A small detail sander helps. Search the web for How-Tos. You can also paint much of the engine plastics to match/contrast: Just make sure the surfaces are well preped and use a good 2-pack laquer to seal. Induction kits help make the bay look good too, especially with a polished or Carbon heatshield. HTH JohnJ

Hi Folks, Sorry I have not followed this up for a while... The plan is that the cover will be moulded around the wiper motor, rather than have a cut-out. Drain channels would be nice but might be a refinement too far... I would rather keep the design simple and do-able. The part is only cosmetic so will be done in the thinnest acceptable grade of CF to keep the cost down. I hope that the part will be well finished with no need for trimming. I have no plans for a special LHD version (as far as I am aware the scuttle are is pretty much unchanged between LHD & RHD?). I have got as far as to make a sheet metal version from which I can now make a mould, but since I am in Glasgow and the CF guy is south of Bristol, things may still take a while to organise. There does seem to be enough interest to justify tooling and I will try and get moving with this as quickly as I can, but, this is not 'my game' and I do have other commitments which take priority. I am not out to make a profit or con anyone so if the quality aint good or the cost is too high then I would rather just scrap the idea. Will keep you posted. JohnJ

Looking at your C's reflection while driving...

...or try getting overtaken by a polished alloy milk tanker... Keep pace, and your car stays in focus while the background whizzes past! V.sad. I need to get a life! JohnJ -
Or do what Martin Peters did a few years ago...junk the charger and fit an EIP turbo kit. 310 brake if I remember!

Hi All, I have located someone prepared to manufacture a full length Corrado scuttle chamber cover in Carbon Fibre, in low volume. The plan is that the cover would fit snugly between the compartment seals and end just before the bonnet hinges. There would be a 'bump' to clear the wiper motor and some shallow channels to help rainwater runoff into the drain holes. I am happy to do the design, mould fabrication etc free of charge but the manufacture will still be around £90, plus p&p. (which is not bad when you consider the price of a plastic Reiger grille!) I don't think anyone would tool-up to make the part from plastic, polished alloy only water-stains, and I would not get the finish I want using fibreglass. Carbon Fibre may be expensive but it is durable and will give a nice understated look. I am not expecting folks to commit to purchase at this time but I would appreciate feedback from anyone genuinely interested.

And just to confuse things even further...LOL :D If you have the Passenger side arm/blade but the arm will not lay flat due to fouling the screen pillar, remove the pastic end cap from the blade, cut a new profile lower down the two steel blade halfs (a Dremmel is the easiest way to go) and you can make the blade any length you want! Bob. Uncle. etc. JohnJ

& did you know that many professional auto paint stores will make up an aerosol to your code and tone? Cheaper and better quality than the 'touch up' stuff sold in the accessory shops!

TOO HOT, There are plenty of places around Glasgow that will do a good retrim and one is Ballies in Johnstone. They are not the cheapest but you will get a good job (a lot of the executive car dealers use them). Beware cheapo retrims: they use thin crusty leather and weak stitching (double backstitch is what you want!)
