  1. I think the 2.0 8V cam is excactly the same as a standard G60 cam. That is true Darren, i tried a standard cam on my G60 (running 1.4 bar boost) and it was like driving a 150hp pd TDI  Very nice if you drive a lot of miles. Although i like the 268/276 Schrick more, i made the 276hp with the Schrick. I am now running a 300/290 cam; lumpy idle and doesn't do much below 3000 rpm.
  2. Standard? A Schrick 268/276 is the best cam for street use, very good idle and you will make good power up top. I placed about 10 of them and all owners were very pleased.
  3. I rebuild them myself, not so difficult just need some pliers for the circlips and a press and heated air stripper for the bearings.
  4. http://www.scirocco16v.com/tech_gallery/ports.jpg Difference between old type 1.8 and 2.0.
  5. True that the 1.8 and 2.0 will be quitte the same ported but not the ABF!
  6. I think SIG has discontinued development of the G50/Ecodyno. There was never a G70 G80 etc. There was however a VWMotorsport G60 with a different displacer and a ring to hold the displacer oil seals in place. The chargers were made by Jung for VW and at the time there was no technology (nor the machines) to make anything bigger.
  7. There is a big difference in the 1.8 the 2.0 and the ABF heads. I will try to get some pictures online.
  8. Hi Darren! Just found this forum, some interresting cars here.
  9. You need to raise the boot for the fuel tank. The normal mk2 Golf Syncro has a weaker 4x4 system.... You can use it but it will break easy.
  10. Chargers from TEC were crap! They are out of bussines for a few years now. Rebuilding a charger is not very difficult just get a rebuild kit from S-tec or SLS etc (never use non-OEM apex strips they will shrimp!!) If you want to get it rebuild by a tuner just make sure they use the right parts.
  11. The 2.0 head (9A/6A/ACE) is a different casting than the 1.8 head (KR/PL) you can see it if you look at the intake. In standard form the 1.8 head will outflow the 2.0 head. The later type ABF/ADL head is the best it flows more on the intake and the exhaust and it has better designed combustion chambers. The new style 16V blocks (based on the alu block for the N/A FSI version and based on the 06A block for the boosted version also have good heads but they need to be machined to use them on a non-FSI engine)
  12. If you are going to build a high power/revving 16VG60 engine (~300hp+) you are better of using a PG block as a base due to carter vent problems.
