I have been using my corrado VR6 daily without problem untill one day i noticed a knocking noise coming from the front left wheel area which i found out to be my jamex coilovers leaking oil out the top. I have since been told its not worth fixing them and to get some springs and dampers so i am looking to buy some cheap lowered springs dampers to keep on the road for the summer just wondered what makes are best and where is the cheapest or even if any one has any good second hand examples thanks

Ive done this it is a bit off a bastard as the glue takes ages of rubbing to get off. I took mine out to help with under bonnet temp and mine was a bit ripped anyway it wasnt noticeable difference but did make induction kit that bit louder . i have been told since that it could make the paint flake or discolour but havnt noticed anything like that yet and dosnt appear i will either.

Since i last spoke to you i have rebled the coolant on my VR and used water wetter which did make a bit better but it is still to hot. I today took it to a VW specialist to rebleed it for my own piece of mind and it came back the same. The top rad hose is very hot while the bottom one is cold is this normal? My aux water pump is not working i have found out  could this be the cause of the problem or will this only come on when parked? Also the breather pipe i think it is that comes out of the left side of the engine near the inlet manifold and gos into the black pipe (about 6 inches long) which your air filter mounts on to with a electrical connection in between. Mine has a thin coating of oil inside the pipe. What is this? Is this normal? Any help is much appreciated thanks.

Thanks for that yellow slc i asked mocal about it and he explained it in more detail it sounds pretty straight forward is it?

Hi i have just brought a 25 row mocal oil cooler without fittings and wondered what kind of a job it is to fit and where the best place to get fittings from would be? Where do the pipes come off that go to the cooler so i can be pretty clued up when it arrives thanks

Yes there is a de cat pipe available for the VR i have got a miltek one it is good quality and went on easy enough there is two different length pipes and the one i got. It has a extra lambda sensor hole on mine though so you will need a spare sensor to go in or bolt i put in a spare lambda sensor not wired to anything though. I have been told its for aftermarket ECUS. I have no idea about performance gains as i changed my engine from a 1.8 to a VR and changed it at the same time . Hope this helps

I have a similar problem  i get third instead of first but i can get reverse. I have also been told its a case of adjusting the cables. Im getting my cables done at a garage this week i will let you know if this cures it and watch them to see what kind of a job it is and let you know sorry i cant be any more help.

Yeah im using the VR6 rad. looks like im not getting a slam panel then. What does your oil temp get to with the oil cooler? What size is your oil cooler . I want a vgi inlet manifold. Wheres the best place to get one from as i know they are very expensive and are they as good as i have heard? I have heard that water wetter stuff cools the car by up to 15oc proberly dosnt but cant hurt to try it. Thanks for your replys

Thanks for your help i will look into getting a new slam panel and the twin fan system then. My oil temp has been as high as 108 but that seems fairly normal. My cams make a bit of a rattle at bout 3000rpm so i am going to replace them with a high lift cam. What do you recommend as Piper Kent and Schrick all get great comments.

Thanks kevhaywire, Yeah i used all the driveshafts running gear. hubs brakes. The fan i am using is a electric fan off a 1999 punto as my rad and engine seem a little nearer than on a normal VR6 only by a fraction but enough so that the Twin fan wouldnt go in so ive had to run the punto fan it was the slimest in width i could find. It seems very powerful though. And runs at bout 95 100oc on a run is bthis too high. I was thinking about getting a mocal oil cooler for it as i want to do track days in it but cant at the min due to the high water levels. thanks again

Thanks for reply  Yeah ive bled it twice from 1 of the heater pipes as i got told they are the highest point of the system. I thought it was a bit high do you know if it could cause the head gasket to go? Mine dosnt make any whine?

Hi im quite new to the corrado world but i brought my 1.8 16V and wanted a bit more power and after hearing my friends VR6 :-P decided that was the way forward. I have since fitted a VR6 and am enjoying my first few weeks of running it but the water temp around town often gos up to between 100 and nearly 110 oc. Is this normal? i have fitted samco hoses a new rad and auxilary water pump. Is there any way of telling if the aux water pump is working as mine dosnt make any noise? I have bypassed the heater matrix as mine is leaking a bit. Could this be the problem? Thanks
